Talking daily driver street HR Z suggestions

Ok . . i did some searching and reading in Jasons 101 sticky . . but still have a few questions . .

Soo basically im a newb 07 Z owner who wants to get a mild drop (< .8 inches ) without getting into camber issues and taking a big ride comfort hit. So far im looking into the tein S techs as ive heard that they go well with the revised shocks that the 07s have

Any other HR guys running tein S techs ? any suggestion for spring/ shocks combo (with a mild drop) ?

Is is always a good idea to also state your rim/tire sizes. <.8 drop would look like no drop or visible drop depending on tire/rim specs

Hotchkis springs here. No camber kit or rear toe bolts needed. Alignment was within -2 degrees front and rear.

Yes, I have the TVS1 kit. Too soft? Not sure, but ride quality is close to stock setup. I guess because their spring rate is very close to stock.

I felt more confident when cornering at higher speeds. In general, I'm happy with the purchase. Not bad for $270 for the kit.

What is at issue here is how Nissan raised the oem rear spring rates on 04.5+ cars and softened up rebound on the rear shocks.

BUT! That does not mean that all spring kits that were designed around the orginal suspension are a bad choice.

I totally understand a owner wanting a milder less then one inch drop. No two car's are alike, but having been here from the beginning in 2003 I can tell you that your odd's of being told your alignment shop was able to keep you within oem specs are vastly higher with a .8" drop of less. No matter what watch your toe specs and never trust the shop, to do the right thing, you've got to be informed before the car hits the rack.

Here are the oem rates and the specs of all 350Z lowering springs with a .8" or less drop.

Oem spring rates 2003-2004
314/342 (linear springs)

Oem spring rates 2004.5+
314/427

RSR 350Z linear springs .6”/.6”
Spring rates in LBS 345/417

Hotchkis 350Z Linear springs .6”/.8”
Spring rates in lbs 340/330

Cobb Tuning 350Z Linear springs .75"/.9"
Spring rates 436/535 (as shown here http://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-s...new-parts.html ) Notes: Too much rear spring for all oem shocks, Tokico D-specs, even Koni’s I see nothing wrong with running oem 427lbs rear springs on cut down upper mounts.

Tein S-tech 350z (fronts are progressive, rears are linear) .7”/.6”
Spring rates in LBS 386/402 (estimated front intial rate is 327lbs)

Tein H-tech 350z linear springs .3”/.2” drop
Spring rates in LBS 358/375

Swift 350Z linear springs .8”/.6”
Spring rates in LBS 336/364

Kg/mm springs 350Z
DR21 super sport 15mm drop
Spring rates in lbs initial/final front 246/398 initial/final rear 252/409

Espelir 350Z progressive springs .4"/.4" drop
Spring rates 386/515 (rear rate IMO is too high for all oem shocks, Z or G)
Noetes: Often purchased by owners chasing high spring rate numbers, often then resold when they don’t deliver what the owner wanted, to be expected since they are progressive,

Nismo S-tune shock and spring setup 350Z (twin tube, fixed height)
.6"/.6" drop
Spring rates 393*-448/254*-504
*estimated initial spring rates (notice the front doesn’t have much spread)
Note: Well liked setup, most often replaced by owner after a greater drop or better track level performance.

I see nothing wrong with S-techs or swift. I can see a argument not to run the Hotchkis springs with a 100lbs drop in rear rate vs your oem springs. But a smal drop is perfectly fine.

Of course it's your "opinion" that a less then 1" drop is barely a drop.

Vast majority of Eibach owners that have actually visted a alignment rack since 2003 have not been able to align their cars within oem specs, something "research" would show you.

Kon's and their cost have their place for owners that need rebound only tunning. Otherwise Tokio's excellent D-spec shock is a more cost effective choice and add's greater flexiblity for non tracking owners because they don't only adjust rebound when you adjust them.

.6" comes directly from Nissan themselves right out of the Nismo catalog.
