What's a good affordable brake fluid for non brembo stock brakes? Driving street only no track.

Will the autozone $3 brake fluids be good enough?

Just get the cheapist Dot 4 fluid that Walmart or Autozone has. My car has been tracked for over 3 years now, and i just changed over to expensive stuff.

familiarize yourself with the search function, as this topic has been discussed before. I recommend ATE super blue, which is ~$15 a liter. I would consider any brake fluid as "affordable" considering you only need 1 liter at a time and are not going to be changing it out often

Motul RBF600 has been great!

There is a lot of research that can be done, boiling points, etc but your car is a daily driver with no track so just get some cheap stuff and be done.........i will say that motul works quite well with our cars......I found it to stiffen up the pedal feel, havent seen a seal break yet, so it must work well with the nissan rubber seals and overall happy with it. I say this having doing many flushes and brake installs on many 350z with my motive power bleeder. I always ask later along with driving their car after install and always hear back great feedback.

about $16 a bottle as well...

No need for either of the two brake fluids listed above unless you track your car. Normal Dot 4 from autozone will work beyond your needs and its cheaper.

Yes. Brake fluid is brake fluid. $3 or $20 a bottle.

Our car uses DOT 3, at least thats what my 07 manual says

I commend you for your DIY maintenance. You are certainly all over the place with your maintenance posts lol.

The reason WE are all enthusiasts is because we are not content with simply what works, but what works better than what the car came with. That in and of itself can span a vast array of levels depending on the individual! So props to you.

What worked for me in the past is Valvoline synthetic brake fluid sold almost anywhere. It satisfies all of oem requirements, but it tested to have a higher boiling point than the average brake fluid for sale over the counter. It's probably around half the price of the ATE superblue fluid I currently use.

You can use dot 3 or 4 brake fluid. The only brake fluid you should avoid is silicone.

Yes if you can dish out extra few bucks, the Motul RBF600 works really well with our Z..been using it on my stock brembos ever since its first flush, even for street this gives you a really nice pedal feel. For cheaper alternative you can consider the Motul DOT4.

I always seen on some of our vendor sites that some BBK combo's include motul or another brand of brake fluid that was DOT 4. But, I thought the Z took DOT 3 is there a huge difference in the two?

So the assumption is that the fluid isn't "completely wet" after 6 months?

I run RBF 600 BTW. Flush twice a year.

I wouldn't put race brake fluid in a road car that isn't ever going on the track. My understanding is it is more 'hygroscopic' (attracts and holds moisture).

Your regular Dot 3 or Dot 4 is set and forget for about two years. I wouldn't be so comfortable leaving the same race brake fluid in my brake system for two years.

im just gonna go with regular autozone DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid ... if it's for the general public, i dont see why not it won't work effective on my stock non-brembos seeing as how i only drive my car on the street. i mean a 350z isn't THAT special that it needs $30 brake fluid... unless i track my car of course

BINGO, and like i mentioned. I do track my car and ran normal off the shelf Dot 4 for three seasons. I will also say i run off the shelf Dot 4 in everything, my 88 Ford Ranger, my ATV's , dirt bike and i even ran in on my R6 racebike.

This makes me uneasy. I'd be pretty brassed off if some if someone lost brake pedal and hit me from behind, and then I found out they weren't using high temperature fluid.
