What are you going to do with the car? Track, street? Depending on what you're going to do, the choices may vary. Also, what is your budget?

i want it to be well rounded for auto x, track, drift, street. i already have all upper/ lower and toe arms, just sick of not being able to adjust dampining and ride hieght. waiting on taxes and ill purchase the coilovers i have around 1200 to mess with.

I ran Ksport Kontrol Pro's in my first Z for about a year. They held up great and ride very nice. Keep in mind the Ksport's are a true rear coilover, not separate like OEM style.

Ride height I was at the entire time with my Ksport's.

Honestly, the Ksport coilovers were too aggressive for me. Even after I got them adjusted, the ride quality was very uncomfortable (stiff). Unless you're looking to use the car just for the track, I would either get an independant setup or a different selection other than Ksport (I hear good things about the tein basics). Just my .02

I'll save you the legwork, for all intents and purposes, no such setup exists, and certainly not at the price point you're considering

You really have to define your goals with a lot more detail - and you have no practical need for a 'true' rear coilover, particularly if you're working with a budget that is so strict that it doesn't allow for all the complimentary mods that are needed to be done from the get go. Do people do it? I'm sure they do. People do all sorts of wacky stuff and swear to themselves it's better than it was because they often can't tell better from worse in the first place. The idea is to make it better...legitimately better, than it is stock. Making it different is easy, and usually pretty cheap. Making it better is far more difficult to achieve

Funny you mention that. My new Z (07) has Tein Basics in it that were already installed when I bought it. With my old Ksport set up I went with 10kg springs in back instead of 7kg and had my damping set at full stiff the entire time. The Tein Basics actually feel stiffer to me.....however, this new Z has Stillen sways set at full stiff which maybe makes a difference? I'm not sure since the car came equipped that way so I couldn't feel the before & after difference. My old Z (03) had stock sways.

My old Z was never tracked, just daily driven and I needed a true rear coilover to achieve my desired ride height. Personally I am more into aggressive wheel fitment with negative offsets & stretched tires. Even with 35 & 30 series tires I did not feel the Ksport coilovers were too stiff. But everyone's opinion in ride quality will be different. I've owned many different cars with a lot of different coilover set ups and I prefer a really stiff/firm ride.

i understand that an all in one setup is impossible, mostly i will do autocross or canyon runs with an occasional drft event or track day, by no means am i a pro or want to be the best i just want adjustability and a solid setup for fun. before my z i had an 86 with koni and trd springs but i couldnt corner balance it. i know a good amount about suspension but not so much on full adjustable coilovers, these will be my first set. thats why i would like to know for around $1000- 1200 whats the best coilover for autocross or canyons?

I'd say, try to get yourself some shocks and springs that fit your demands. All the coilovers within your budget suck IMO.
