Unless you're tracking the car (which I assume you are NOT, given the pad selection) the Motul 600 is overkill. Any good quality DOT 4 fluid, such as ATE Super Blue Racing, ATE TYP 200, or Valvoline SynPower DOT 4 will work just fine at one third the price. The important thing is to keep the fluid fresh by bleeding every year or so.
In order to maximize the pedal firmness, you should bleed the brakes the traditional way, using an assistant to push the pedal and carefully timing the openings and closings of the bleed screw. The idea is to JOLT the brake fluid, so that any trapped air bubbles are knocked loose and exit the bleed nipple. I've written up my thoughts on the various "1-man bleeder" methods out there and the folks at BMW Tips have put that on their site: http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/b...ol/bleeder.htm
I wrote a "how to" on removing the rear shields a while ago....try a search, I'm lazy. I would say it did help for my track use, but they really need even more cool air. I'm trying to figure out a positive air pressure point under the car to achieve this.....I'll be experimenting next year. If mine was a pure race car, I'd run ducts from around the "B" pillar, as BJ has done, but I'm not willing to chop up my interior .....yet!
Sooooooooo, if you're doing lapping events, get rid of it. For the street or autocross, I wouldn't bother.
