Default stripped strut tower bolts

So today I was changing my spark plugs and removed my strut tower brace to free up some room, everything went smooth until I went to bolt back up the strut tower. I somehow managed to strip two of them, the bolts seem to be really soft. Are these bolts that I can get at a hardware store, or am I going to have to go through the stealership?

All bolts are not the same. The hardware store sell bolts for home use not automotive. Get yourself some quality bolts.

you sure you didn't strip the holes instead of the bolts?

its def the bolts, the threads are all messed up. I hand tightened them first then started torquing them with the wrench and then they started slipping because the threads got destroyed. I have done a lot of suspension work and never had bolts strip so easily. Guess I have to be super carefull next time. Im going to the store after work to see if they carry any, I need new brake pads anyways.

You can buy a high quality Dewalt tap and die set for half of what you paid to get them done.

bolts come in different grades that why the prices can vary for the same size. Good luck with that and let us know how it works out.

Not sure if they change the bolt size between the years, but for my 08 350Z,

strut bolt size is

M10 x 1.25 - 20mm

I bought a few class 8.8 zinc plated steel ones to replace the strut bolts.
