Default Ned new pads and rotors on the cheap....

So im cheap, but not ebay crap cheap.

So the short story goes. Got a full set of brembos a year ago for 500 bucks. Yeah it was a steal. Now I am in need of pads and rotors, but seeing as how the entire Brembo set up only cost me 500 I refuse to spend more than that on new pads and rotors.

In my search I came across:

Stoptech Blank Brake Rotors Brembo Equipped 2003-2006 350Z
Fronts $88 each. Rears $77 each.

StopTech Performance Brade Pads Nissan 350Z 2003-2008 w/ Brembos
Fronts $56 set. Rears $55 set.

I know StopTech makes good stuff, so my question is... Is this a good deal and is there anything else out there of equal quality or better for cheaper?

That is an excellent price for rotors especially if the hat is painted.

All that looks and sounds good. Do it. I have Stoptech front pads and SS front lines, but I'm using Centric rotors.

Where did you find the front and rear rotors for $88 and $77 shipped each, respectively?

I'm currently in the market for new rotors, pads, and SS lines for Brembos as well.

Centric rotors seem to be about 20 bucks cheaper. May go with those. How are they? No vibrations? Painted hat?

^ Nice. I'll look into that also.

I must've imagined the shipping part, my mistake.

I'm currently in the process of waiting for PMs from bunch of vendors and if that price you listed doesn't include shipping, I'm sure you can find better places by shopping around with other vendors on here.

Another place you could try is R1 Concepts:

Search for R1 concepts. I have been very pleased with them for street use. Have an oem set for the track, so I can't speak to how they stand up there.

Just priced out blank Centric rotors, painted hats, and the StopTech pads on partsgeek.com for $332 shipped. Not too bad. Going to check out r1 concepts now. But $332 shipped isn't bad at all.

Edit:
Cheked out R1. Their prices don't compare to the other.

So far partsgeek is the cheapest for the stoptech pads and centric rotors and nissangenerations is the cheapest for the stoptech rotors.

So...... Order the pads from partsgeek and go with the stoptech rotors from nissangenerations or just go with the centric rotors and stoptech pads all from partsgeek?

just because you got cheap set of brembos doesn't mean it would be stupid to spend more.

around 450-500, you can get a nice set of rotors and pads.

Quick question for those who are more knowledgeable:

Does the cast iron grade matter, with regards to braking in a track setting? I see that the cheaper ones are G3000, while slightly more expensive ones are G3500, with the more premium ones being G4000.

So StopTech rotors and pads are cheap? I always thought they made quality stuff. Enlighten me on the world of rotors and pads.... Im being serious, not scarcastic too.

I drive my car 6 months out of the year. Around 6 autox sessions a year and other than Zdays and a couple cruises here and there I drive pretty slow.

Grade is relative to hardness and strength: http://www.atlasfdry.com/grayiron-classes.htm

prices are per pair, not per rotor at R1 - a set of 4 is $235 shipped vs $320 shipped for the Stoptechs.

I thought I read somewhere that Centrics rotors are the same ones labeled and sold as Stoptech?

I have a set of R1 rotors... been using them over a year now, with no complaints. Were $250 or so, shipped to hawaii, cross-drilled and slotted. Painted the hats myself...

Right, but how does that translate to actual track usage in the real world? For the occasional track usage, should I be looking into something higher than G3000?

The blanks are Centric and the slotted ones are PowerSlots, from what I've read.

Centric=StopTech/PowerSlot
http://www.stoptech.com/company_info...owerslot.shtml

I replaced my Brembo pads with StopTech Street pads (less than $100 shipped on eBay) and didn't notice any difference in stopping power. Less dust as well.

OP, what happened with that guy calling you out on the intake you sold him?
