The reason that Koni went softer on the compression is to add a little more grip to the rear to help inside rear wheel spin.....not the ride quallity. Yes there is a signifigant increase in rebound all around the car.
That goes directly against the spoken word from Gordon at Koni. "Nissan went with allot of compression dampening to give the Z great turn in, problem is they did not dial in the rebound dampening to match." We have scaled back the compression dampening to get the ride quality to where it should be" He went on to talk about the EVO VII they were R&D'ing and how it was severly underdampened in comparision. It pays to speak directly to factory techs. I find it rather interesting that one of the Key benefits to my running the OEM 350Z spirngs and struts vs the the standard sedan sport suspension was a significant increase in inside rear wheel traction which was certainly lacking before.
