I am disappointed with the S-Tune and Sways.

I have had them on the car for a couple of weeks and to be honest, I really cannot tell that much of a difference!
I have done some hard driving and yes I would say it takes away some of the understeer but overall $2k for this upgrade,
my advise if you are thinking about it.......
PUT YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!
(one small caveat, I have never tracked the Z yet, so hopefully it will actually make a difference there)
WHAT DO ALL YOU OTHER NISMO S-TUNE OWNERS THINK?

well, I have ridden in a car with this setup, and I could tell a little, the biggest thing was the lack of bounce. Other than that, and a little less roll, the ride was real similar. But body roll did decrease with this setup, which felt good to me. Not a radical upgrade, kinda mild, but for that amount of money, seems like you should get more.
I concur with the feelings above. For the cost of this kit, the results don't justify its cost.
What do they go for? $1200.00?
The change in ride height isn't even noticable to me. You can get the Tein Basics which are height adjustable for $800.00, which is a coilover setup.
The NISMO S-Tune isn't even a coilover, just springs and shocks.

Well, I mean it IS expensive (should be cheaper) but I want quality over quantity and lots of features. I come from the electronics world, and its usually the case that alot of features doenst make a good product. I realy dont need the ability to adjust my suspension, dont get me wrong, its cool as hell and a great thing to show off to your freinds. The NISMO is for me....it doensn't throw away some of the features that the engineers at Nissan spent months working on, but was designed by equaly talented group of guys at a repected racing devision re-working the stock suspenion to their liking. I think (and hope) the s0tune suspension is something you will learn to love, and continue to over the years. You wont get tired of it being too hard or unrefined, yet adds a much needed taugtness to the stock suspenion.
Just my $.02, attempting to justify my $1700

Er, not to go off topic too far since I was considering the S-tune as well but, can someone tell me how different the Tein Basic is compared to Tein Flex? And, does EDFC work with both? There was another thread about Tein Basics and from recollection, people were quite pleased with the product, especially considering it's a sub $800 modification.
I understand Tein Basics are about the same as S-Tune only they also have adjustment options. Comments?

I guess I'll just be more patient and hope it "grows" on me!

the basics are just a schock and spring with only height adjustibility, great bang for the buck, and i think have just about the same spring rates as the nismo, but im not too sure on that.
edfc can only be used on the flex type or any of teins adj. type coilovers
all_bark: hopefully some words of comfort. Like I said, my other major hobbie is electronics meaning high end audio/home theater. One of the things to know about when shopping for speakers, or other audio products, is be weary of the product that "jumps out" at you on first listen. These will definately catch your ear in a busy store with dozens of other brands to chose from and limited time. Problem is, you take it home, and after prolonged listening, you get tired of the speakers. What "stood out" in the store, is now "in your face", and you no longer want to listen to your music cause its fatiguing.
I think car products are very similar. You could test drive a freinds coilover system thats very stiff and tail happy. Its drives vastly different from stock, and really stands out as being fun. Then you put it on your car, and a month later, you no longer want to push the car as hard because the rear end is overly twitchy, and you dont want to drive your favorite back roads cause the suspension can't handle the pot holes and bumps.
Its the products your learn to love, and continue to enjoy that are worth every penny.

What you need to do it do a back 2 back comparrison with a stock z.. Mine
Then I can decide if I wanna buy the setup, as I've been thinking about it.
But, seriously, I'd love to see what it feels like....

Brad4rdhay, very well said. I too have the complete S-Tune set up. It does not stand out like some of the other suspension options, but it performs flawlessly when pushed. It does not make its presence known in everyday driving, and IMO, that's how a performance suspension should behave.
Now, is it worth $1700? Hmmm, I don't know. I got it for $1300, so at my price, I would say that it's worth every penny

The FLEX system is the only suspension compatible with the EDFC unit.
All specs and adjustment's allowed per TEIN set up is avaialble on our web site.
Here is a direct link to the TEIN Section
CLICKY HERE!
I have a tein Basic set up ready to ship,
Reserve your Flex System with EDFC, we expect our next batch mid February from japan.
I did the swaybars by themselves and thought it improved the steering response tremendously, I was very happy with it.
Then I did Eibachs, and although the ride was not affected much, I loved the reduced wheel well gap.
For every day use I would suggest this combo, currently both would run around 600 best money spent.

I have the S-Tune, sways, LMGT4s, and some Toyos. After the rims and before the suspension felt only slightly better than stock. After I put the S-Tune in I can tell the car handles and rides MUCH better. You can still feel the road beneath you and it takes a corner really well, but it feels like I have more comfortable seats at the same time. It isn't harsh, it is smooth. Remember, you bought a STREET tuned suspension designed to be better than stock but still retain a degree of comfort. I am 100% happy with my S-Tune unsprung weight. Also, I think that something more towards full race would get old pretty fast on a car driven primarily on the street. I want some degree of comfort as streets and roads aren't smooth racetracks. If I only drove on the street long enough to get to the track then something more hardcore and therefore noticeable might be what I would get. But for something that is for street purposes nothing tops the S-Tune setup. Not to mention nothing about my warranty has changed. Happy customer here!!
