Im trying to install my SPC rear camber kit however even hitting the bolt with a 150 psi impact gun it wont budge. I hit it with some penetrating oil and let it sit for a few minutes with no success. Ive tried hitting both sides on the bolt behind the rotor with a wrech on the other side too

do i need more psi? is my bolts just frozen and ill have to break them off or something? or what?

 

Do you have a breaker bar?

 

break bar if not , drill them out

 

Yeah breaker bar worked for me theyre on there preety tight

 

stock arms use a concentric washer that it is keyed to. Tabs hold it in place from rotating.


Try putting your TQ on the nut, not the bolt.

He's talking about the bolt right behind the rotor. It isn't concentric. Only the one on the other end near the sway bar brackets (the end of the camber arms closest to the middle of the body) is concentric.

I dont remember any trouble with mine but that was years ago.
With the car on jacks you can use the floor jack to lift the wrench on the nut while the bolt is held in place with another wrench that is stopped by the ground. Flip flop for the other side. Be careful you dont lift the car off the stands.

Good call. I've done something similar using a breaker bar against the ground and turning the engine over to try and break a pulley bolt loose.

OP, what brand impact are you trying to use and what is your compressor rated at?

Yeah, man. Drop me a PM. I'm either working on it here at the house or up at CIN on most Saturdays now. I really want to either rent or buy a garage where me and a few other folks can work on our cars. If we end up buying a new house with some property, I might just build one when we move. That way I could have a lift, keep my garage clean (and the wife off my back), etc.

 

You're looking for Ft lbs of torque. if your impact is a 200 ft lb gun all the PSI in the world isn't going to help. you might need a Big mammajamma.

My inlaws have one of these I use & it's a beast. takes off lugs instantly... you have to be careful.

If you DO have a good amount of Torque, then yeah... time to get anther bolt & start hacking/drilling it out. Maybe heating it up for a bit with a MAP gas torch would work, but I wouldn't suggest You try that...

 

that is what i have and have it all the way up on psi. going to try the breaker bar today along with the jack. i tried the jack last night and i think it actually did start to rotate once my suspension compressed a bit haha
