run far and fast. these things are useless in that department. the ride is good if anyone buying coilovers cares about that haha.

also note there is assembly required, which i didnt see in this post or from the vendor i purchased from.i for one thought i could save a few bucks and greatly regretted it. again, more so because of the limited height adjustment, but you will need to tear down your old shocks and reuse a lot of parts. its not THAT bad but you will need to get spring compressors and all that fun stuff, just be aware. it just came as news to me when my kit arrived.

You have to reuse the front and rear OEM top hats. It's explained on the Tein website.

That doesn't sound like tearing down the shocks. With my Cobalt , you had to reuse the OLD shock body and insert the Koni cartridge....cutting the old
shocks apart. This doesn't look like that.

you have to take them apart to get the tops off, also have to trim and reuse part of the boots. anyone who has replaced shocks and/or springs can handle it.
but as i see it these are 800 bucks for basically shocks and springs with minor height adjustment in the front-you decide if its worth the savings. the rear you will want it as low as you can possibly get it and even then i would say some people will be disappointed. . they are in some sort of weird limbo between lowering springs and coilovers. they look pretty ok with stock wheels besides the sunkenness, and i think they would be alright for anyone who runs fat tires and doesnt want to be rubbing. even those guys will still end up on the lowest setting, the height adjustment in the rear is just pointless unless you want to raise the car and go rallying. any other setting than all the way down and you might as well just get lowering springs.


again, they arent bad but if you are wanting to go really low and get these you will hate your life. i got mine actually about perfect in the rear now, but i had to tear stuff out. i'm not using the tein spring seat, if i actually drove my car i would wager the rear shocks will blow eventually because of how much lower i am running than where they are supposed to be.

you can probably cut the tein seat down to get them a tad lower, you can run on 1 collar like i tried to do-still way high, someone else here said they were on no collars. imo that seemed like a not so great idea. like i said i took out the tein mount altogether and am on the stock mount cut down. kind of a lot of hassle to save a couple bucks.


also, no dampening adjustment. thats one feature i dont mind doing without personally. my last set of teins were superdrifts and i didnt like to fiddle too much with all that.

i got a pic today-i have had these for months now, just been working a lot and trying to sort them out before i took any.

the fronts do pretty good, THEY ARE ADJUSTABLE! mine are still on both collars, and all the way down-which the instructions say don't do by the way. ignore the rear because it is not even close to what you will have when you throw these on out of the box, its missing the entire adjustable segment. i have a pic of them before with 1 collar if i can find it, ill post back later if i do.

fronts, pretty ok. with fat tires you can have them up more than this and look good. i have 225/35's on a 19x9.5+12. its looks ok, but it took me a lot of hassle to get them where i am almost happy. once again if you want to be slammed, run away. everyone else i think will like these unless you want a stiffer ride, and i do still question the rear. these could easily be designed to go lower and actually have an adjustment range if they used a slightly shorter spring.

Fortune 500 look like a better deal? About $200 more, but have damper adjustablity and great reviews as well.

These turned out to be great for what I was trying to accomplish. Only complaint I have is the minimal ride height adjustment which I quickly solved by machine cutting 1/2" off the rear upper tein spring puck. This lowered the whole car in the rear so as not to bottom out the strut per teins suggestion in the installation manual. There is no problem wih the range of adjustment in the front, there is way more than you need for a functional car. In my opinion "hellaflush" is not functional and this is not what these "oem style" coilovers are for. With a setup of upgraded swaybars and a proper camber kit this kit is a huge value in my opinion. The ride is smooth yet aggressive with the upgraded sway bars. Just my 2 cents. (Edit) Just wanted to added that turn-in and squat are dramatically improved making the car more predictable under hard acceleration out of corners.

This is my car with the Tein Street Basis. The rear upper perch puck is cut 1/2" but sadly I need to buy a fender roller to get the 20x10.5-285/30's to fit without rubbing in the rear. This kit goes low enough for me witha small mod to the rear upper perch. And ride is comfortable. Best Bang/Buck in my opinion.

what is the fender height at the lowest setting?
