Installed: Megan Racing Street Coilovers & more suspension parts...
I came across a crazy deal on some Megan Racing Street Coilovers the other day so I thought why not.. Picked them up, they were in great condition for what he said was 30k miles on them.. No leaking seals, etc. So the next day I took my car to Trips Customs in Greensboro, NC and left it there.
I had all of this done:
-Megan Racing Street Coilovers
-Kinetix Rear Adjustable Camber Arms
-Kinetix Rear Traction Arms
-SPC Toe/Bolt Kit
-Energy Suspension LCA Bushings
-Energy Suspension Compression Rod Bushings
-Rear fenders rolled
Then yesterday I added some 17mm spacers to the front and some 10mm spacers to my rear.
So my wheel/tire specs are:
18x9 +8 255/35
18x10.5 +10 285/35
Then this morning I finally got it aligned and I love the outcome. The rears are maxed, and the fronts, I could sit on the ground. My car handles 10x better now. Everything just feels tight
If i had to complain about something it would be that the rears can't go any lower. So if you're a stretched tire kinda guy, these would not be the coils for you. I think I am going to raise the fronts up a hair because on the ride home I was scraping my fenders like crazy.
Anyways, want to thank the guys at Trips Customs for working on my Z, and doing it all perfect! www.tripscustoms.com

Next is bump steer, when you lower a Z the tie rods need to be repositioned, if you don't , you get a lot more bump steer. Another ding in your handling
The Megan dampers are sub par and not well matched to supplied springs. Yes the increased spring rate from the springs can help in cornering, but if the corner isn't perfectly smooth, the damper is working against you.
You think it handles better around turns, but in actuality, when pushed to or near the limit, your car will handle worse than stock.
Alignment ? What are your settings? With the stiffere springs, you reduced the amount of camber gain you will get while cornering, to improved handing you will need to add some static camber from the OEM settings.

there are things you can get like bump steer correction kits etc but getting suspension mods that don't mesh well with each other and a set up that isn't thought out can hinder suspension over stock.

OLD thread the member has a new car!
to the on going suspension argument...the absent of body roll after a coilover install or spring install is what gives the driver that feeling of 'better' handling hence the misinformed reviews on coils!

The original poster never said he was a track junkie...or even an expert in the field. BMurrey just wanted to show off his new purchases. And rightfully so (please excuse me if I got that wrong).
The car looks dope and is not any lower than the vast majority of vehicles in this community. Try making comments in the way you would like to receive them. Keep the criticism constructive if you must. But I don't even know the OP and I feel like he was attacked for no reason.

He wasn't attacked
Chebosto & terrasmak and many others try to point out the misconception on what is what!
I don't agree with some of there what they say cause of their specific back ground (autoX/roadcourse) is completely different to the old 'drift' way of setting up a car.
