Stoptech front BBK upgrade need help

FWIW, Old tests but still informative. We were lucky they used a 350z platform. Minor differences in stopping distances, but major differences in heat dissipation.

Yes, Stoptech 14" will dissipate heat better than 13", but you're only going to realize that added benefit with SEVERE repeated braking on a prolonged (endurance) circuit. The Stop Tech 13" are larger and THICKER than Brembos and also are true FLOATING rotors (lighter) for minimal heat build up.
Like another poster pointed out, the Stop Tech 13" Fronts are MORE than adequate for HPDEs and track events that 99% of us participate in.
Yes, a larger rotor may *feel* like it's stopping better, because LESS PEDAL effort is required. But the actual stopping distance may be LESS if not properly balanced with the rears.
The article here shows very little difference in stopping power 13" vs 14"

Here is the StopTech white paper..a must read.

Just installed my brakes yesterday! Took me a whole day but totally paid out!
The rears are definitely no where close to par with the fronts lol. Wow I have never seen glowing red rotors before.!! Go break in cycles! :-)

It's really strange to see glowing rotors (your rears) on a car that's already parked? I have raced cars and have only seen them glow while still under HEAVY braking on the track. Very stange. It looks like you have Stoptech 13s on the front only? I have the same set up...fronts only. I put slotted Cyo rotors on the rear with matching Stoptech Performance pads.

what likely happens is stoptech puts smaller pistons in the 14" kit calipers(since the caliper dimensions/pad area are not changed and they use the same pad compound). this gives a better pedal feel and obviously more thermal capacity, all while mainting proper bias.
so if that is the case, if the op were to put the 14" rotors/brackets on to his 13" calipers he would be overly front biased and worsen his stopping distances--yet having more torque.
Yeah! I've ordered slotted cyo rotors for my rear also along with stoptech pads! Yeah idk wtf was up with the rear rotors..only answer I have is head dissipation..race cars have crazy brakes and they cool almost immediately..but my 88rotor rotors suck *** and take longer to cool. I took this pic immediately after pulling over
There is some awesome info going around in this thread. The break in process for the stoptechs was quite vigorous. I had to do 2 cycles of 10 60mph-10mph heavy breaking followed by 4 80mph - 10mph back to back with a cool down break in between the 2 cycles. After the first 14 massive braking procedures, my rear calipers caught fire and so they did the second cycle. There's no clamping of the pads to the rotor to my knowledge and all 4 brakes were properly bled. 3 times as a matter of fact for peace of mind..my guess is the rotors/pads are simply cheap and for show mainly - not for the track.
Lol no that's not what I'm saying. Stoptechs were fine and a complete kit with carbon ceramic pads. My rear 88rotors with cheap pads caught fire
