I recently bought some bc racing br type coilovers used. I want to reset the preload and i saw bc racings video on preload setting, but the problem im having is i cant loosen the lower spring seat. I can get the locking ring loose but i cant get the lower spring seat. I even sprayed wd40 in between the threads and still nothing. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

 

Try soaking it in pb blaster for a few hours

 

PB Blaster, possibly a hammer and a screwdriver.

Once you've broken it loose, clean the threads and be sure to apply lots of anti-seize.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up soaking the threads with wd40 5 time with 30 minutes in between each soak. After the 5th time the spring seat gave in. Man was that a relief. Again thanks for the help.

 

Like I said, be sure to use anti-seize now!

 

for future reference, use pb blaster instead of wd-40.

 

^This WD40 is a water displacing spray, not a penetrating catalyst like PB Blaster.

I only had wd40 so i thought i would give it a try and it worked but if this ever happens to me again ill be using pb blaster to make my life easier
