2 Brake Calipers on One Wheel
This is from the Volvo Evolve S60R. I'm curious to know 1) How they did it and 2) Whether it makes any sense vs one big caliper. Looks really cool though

the Bentley Continental has two huge 4-piston calipers on the front brakes, clamping something like a 15" rotor. The rears are almost as large a rotor with a single 4-piston caliper....
Of course, that car makes something like 600hp and 600 ft-lb of torque and it weighs about 6000 pounds, so it needs all the brakes it an get!
you can essentially double the pad size by adding another caliper... that would be hard to do using only one caliper
you can make out two silver calipers behind the front wheel in this picture of a Bentlely Continental T http://www.rrab.com/bcontt.htm.
I'm not sure how the new Continental GT is configured.

Maybachs have 2 calipers on the front rotors. It's definitely not a useless, just for looks gimmick, because a 6000lb+ Maybach brakes just as well as a C5 Corvette, if not a little better.
Twin calipers per wheel on a 3200lb car is overkill. Too much braking force will result in locking up, and that won't stop your car much faster. If you're interested in improving your braking distance, look at ways to widen your contact patch with the road.
