I'm looking into some chassis stiffening items and there are two pieces that intrest me because I am not sure if they overlap or not. If they do overlap, I'll have to choose one, and if they dont overlap I'll get both...

By overlap, I mean they use the same bolt holes so they cant be installed together. It's close but if anyone has experience with this and knows for sure please tell me.

There is no way you could run both so you will have to choose one

I honestly don't think this is worth the trouble for either since you end up scraping it everywhere, if you really want it to work you need to buy all of the braces but even then it is debatable whether there is any real effect on anything

Unless you are planning to track your car,these braces are a waste of
money.I've got the GT-SPEC on my car.I bought it from a guy on a great deal.
You do note a bit of added stiffness in cornering.But,not enough to make
a diff in everyday street driving.As mentioned,there is potential problem
of scraping,especially if your car is lowered.The Tanabe's design looks like
it will give you problems in hitting stuff.

Looking at the pictures and locations of the mounts it doesn't seem to overlap, but as mentioned above totally not worth it for a daily driven car. Even if it is a track car i think both would be overkill. I had the gtspec and it actually hangs low on the back side to clear exhaust and will scrape like crazy on a lowered car.

Ok, I am tracking my car in a couple of weeks at Virginia International Raceway, and my car is not lowered.

I was leaning towards the GT Spec, and the reason I thought it would help a lot is because I installed some frame rail supports on a miata and noticed a HUGE improvement in stiffness right away, just backing down the driveway...but the 350z comes with several factory braces, and the GT Spec looked like it would help more than any other brace because it covers the area in between the two factory braces under the car and it connects the frame rails...and the miata ones that I installed dont even connect to eachother (you can connect them but we didnt) and it was a big difference. See below...



doesnt look like much but holy cow, what a difference it makes. I guess if the GT Spec braces for the Z dont improve the car that much, it must be due to the presence of Nissans factory braces that are already in place...

Even if your are tracking the car, those parts are not worth it. BTW, Miata doesn't have a fixed roof and will stiffen up a bit with parts like these. The Z, not so much

I currently have nothing in terms of braces on the car. Only thing I have is a polyurethane diff bushing. Also, I have read up on several forums and it seems that the most effective GT Spec braces are the fender braces...so went ahead and purchased them used right here on the forum and saved some $$$.

the miata didn't have much metal compared to the z... the Z chassis is pretty stiff. if anything just add a roll bar

Adding a roll bar to a miata does help, we did that too. But the roll bar seemed to stiffen only the rear of the car and the front still felt like it twisted. The frame rail supports seemed to effectivley tie the stiff rear of the car to the loose front and the whole car felt like it became "one".

Different story in the z, I just read this whole article...explains a lot. Pretty cool that Nissan engineers did a lot for the Z so we didn't have to.

Took My car to VIR last weekend with TCUSA, and did not have any braces installed. Right now I have fender braces waiting to be installed, and I'm working out a deal on a used GT Spec 4 point brace. Once I install everything and hit the track again, I will post about the difference these bars actually make, if anything...at least I got both braces used so I can say that I have kept costs down for this little experiment.

I've had Tanabe Sustec Under Brace on the roadster. It helped a little on turn in but not by much. I ended up taking it off because it scraped on everything.

just my 2 cents.
