Default What happens when the car is jacked/lifted on non jack lift points?

Hey guys,

This might be a stupid question, but what happens when the car is jacked on non jack lift points? Instead of the side skirt lift point, someone jacked up the car near the right or left of the stock cat. Does that affect anything? Handling? Just curious. Nothing seems to be messed up, but just wondering. Thanks

You mean on the subframe where these jacks are (near the cats)?

No. I boxed the points in red for you to see. Jacked up from those points and I don't see any differences or bends, but wondering if that is a safe place to jack it up from. I also jack it up from the rear spring bucket sometimes. If its NOT, what are the consequences? Would it affect handling?

I wouldn't jack it up on any section that contains moving parts. You may get away with jacking it up on the outer portion of that front brace but you still run the risk bending it or breaking the bolts holding it in. The inner position you pointed out, stay away from. If something is bent there you will definitely feel it in your handling. Same goes for the rear, your spring bucket is a suspension component.

Not that the spring bucket arm supports the weight of the car on a daily basis or is subjected to a lot larger forces than a jack.

So you would/will jack from the spring bucket?

Yup, for 5 years till i installed a toe arm instead. Jack from right under the spring. Then up front, i jack the car from the outer most mount bolts of the front brace, jackstands are always under where the compression arm bolts are.
