What I've been considering is just getting OEM size cross drilled calipers, stainless lines and some hawk hp pads. I'd like to get my rotors powdercoated red or maybe blue.

stock brakes
ok gotta a question about my brakes.
i had bought power stop performance brake kit which includes-
4 drilled/slotted rotors extreme pads and SS brake lines(all 4) and bought this from autoanything.
my question is for the calipers. is the centric just a replacement for oem or are they better then oem?
i found a guy that has 4 stock calipers and hes asking 180.wasnt sure about this price.
should i buy the used set for 180 or buy the centric for just over 200
I DO POWDER COAT!!! so i was gonna buy the stock ones powder coat them and swap mine on my car and now ill always have a core when someone wants theirs pc.

Powdercoating the calipers or the rotors ? Pads+rotors+SS lines is a great upgrade for the street.
My understanding is that Centric calipers are simply re-built OEM calipers - someone chime in and correct me if I'm wrong. Do you have a reason for buying new calipers?

yes i would like a set for a core...if someone wants their calipers powder coated theres no need to wait.they tell me the color i coat them and when they send me there's ill ship the coated ones
do you think 180 is a far price for all 4 used calipers?
i know this will only cover 03-05 z's..maybe i can shop around and see if i can find a set for 06-08 and have them as a core as well

If they're from an 03-05 I think that's a high price. I've seen a set of 06+ calipers, lines, rotors, and pads for $250 (https://my350z.com/forum/brakes/5725...brake-set.html). Do remember that 06-08 have dual piston front, whereas 03-05 have 1/1 front and rear.

hey suwaidi,
just wanted to say thanks for your input here,i really appreciate it....
i did read that about the 06+ but it also said sonething that that rotor was a little larger then 03-05...i already bought my upgrade kit and its all in the basement waiting to get powder coated and put on.
so this is the reason i was looking for used 03-05

The rotors are larger, here's a list for reference (non-brembo):
'03 296x24mm & 292x16mm
'04 296x24mm & 292x16mm
'05 296x24mm & 292x16mm
'06 320x28mm & 308x16mm
'07 320x28mm & 308x16mm
So your options are:
a) Powdercoat existing calipers
b) Find a set of 03-05, powerdcoat
c) Exchange rotors/pads (if possible), find set of 06-08 calipers, powdercoat
The reason I'm suggesting the 06-08 is because although they're not a tremendous performance upgrade, they're an upgrade from the 03-05 (in the case of front brakes), and if you're buying another set of calipers you might as well get the revised versions, but if you've already purchased the kit and can't return it, then go for the 03-05. You can look around the classifieds and G35Driver classifieds too - they're available on eBay but usually far overpriced.
