Default Coilovers.....help.

This my sound stupid for you guys but we here to ask questions so here i go.

This is the first time ill buy coils for my Z, and have never use coilovers on my previous cars.

So my question is, are coilovers better them stock suspensions ? What should I expect with coilovers, will the car ride more soft, no sounds or what is the difference otjer then the obvious.

I just go new 18" wheels which should be getting home next week, and I want to lower the car a bit to get rid of the gap, nothing crazy, just want to make
The new set up look good.

I did research and decided to go with BC coilovers, my car is my daily, no track, no drifting or any kind of that stuff, just a clean Z.

how low are you wanting to go?
if not much....set of lowering springs would suffice. and be alot friendlier to the wallet.
there is a thread dedicated to Zs lowered with just springs. maybe take a look through it and if you want more then get back to coils.

Idk around 1 inch I just want to make the new 18s wheels look good but I'm not slamming the car or anything and also want to be able to put if back on during the winter that's why I need coils, but my main concern is how the ride will feel after I take the stock off and put coils

Ok, well I have PBM true type coilovers and so far I have been happy. Definately stiffer than OEM ride but not over the top, car feels more fun when spirited driving & height adjustability is from diggin earth to up in the clouds.
Have read a few reviews where KW V1 has a pretty soft ride - closer to OEM ride. If that is your #1 criteria then I would start there.
Also heard good things about the BC coils as well. Seen a few reviews about some sort of a clicking/knocking noise. That was the main reason for me trying a different brand.
Assuming you came across this when doing your research.

Etc does not help him or anyone else. Please elaborate.

OP. First decide if you want true coilovers front AND rear or the OEM set up.

You're going to have more options betwen vendors with the OEM set up, and since you said you just daily and enjoy your car, OEM set up should suffice for you and you'll be very happy with it.

True coil overs will offer you more control for ride height since it moves the spring outboard onto the strut tower and lets you go lower, but you'll have a lot less off the shelf options and it'll generally run you a bit more money. This is the issue I'm running into right now as I need to replace my true coilovers or convert back to OEM style.

do some research first, sounds like u know nothing about coils. If you don't want a big drop and don't care for height/dampening adjustment, go for springs. Otherwise, you can choose among various coils, some cheap/crap(isc, topspeed, gsp), then medium crap like ksport, tein, bc, d2, fortune auto, stance, f&f around 1k, and then you have the better crap like kw/tanabe/hks/bilstein

Or you can divide it as:
Crap (BC, Stance , D2, Ksport Fortune , ISC etc)
Quality ( Kw V1-3, Bistein, Truesport koni and a couple other)
Race (Moton, AST, JRZ, Penske, Zeal and a couple others)
