Default My brake pad nightmare...

starts now. so I just purchased a 2003 z about a week ago and I quickly realized the brake pads and rotors need to be changed or resurfaced. so, I figured, if I'm going to change the pads and rotors, I might as well upgrade them to something better than OEM. So in the mean time I figured I'd throw some cheap pads on from Peb boys while I figure out what kind of rotors and pads I want ( never owned a Z or a sports car, transitioning sportbike rider ).

So I start taking off the lug nuts, and one is immediately coming off wrong, I get the tire off and the mounting stud is grossly stripped. W/E big deal shake it off, ill fix that when I upgrade the rotor.. Next step, take the caliper bolts off, one breaks loose, the other feels like its causing trouble.. snap.. great..

Now I need a breaker bar to get the caliper mount off.. and I dont have one.. waiting for a ride haha.

any suggestions on the bolt stuck in the caliper mount? drill it out I suppose? I'm assuming its not coming out with lock pliers but I will try that as well.

Anyways new here, ranting, hi forum

*BTW - I'm sure ill find out soon enough, but if anyone cares to tell me, can the mounting studs be replaced or is it the entire assembly?*

Nick

Wheel studs are easily replaced.

If I had the snapped caliper bolt I would disassemble the front suspension to have the spindle assembly on a bench and attack the broken bolt with pb blaster and an easy out.

fortunately i found a set of caliper bolts at the parts store and the female bolt of the caliper bolt slid right out and i replaced it. as for the stud, i put everything back together and put the lug nut back on, it still tightens down and i dont have time to pull the whole spindle off as this is my daily driver.

ive pulled spindles off a 98 s10, the 350z's front suspension looks a little more intimidating, so im not sure when ill get to the stud, i think i just over reacted.
