Recommended TRUE coilovers, springs, etc.
I've posted a few threads and got flamed every time so i haven't posted for about 6 months, just been reading on the site trying to figure out how everything works and i finally think i got the hang of it. But i'm debating on what type of coilovers to get, some people on the forum will say "these are junk coilovers" while others are completely satisfied with the performance and quality of them. I don't plan on taking my car to the track at all. However its not going to be my daily driver, just drive it every now and then, keep it clean, and drive to some meets. Some people lower there z's on just springs but i found out after my first set of springs that it was not the way to go, noob mistake . I just want to hear from a bunch of people on what type of TRUE coilovers i should get because going ahead and getting a true set with a lifetime warranty is alot better then repairing or getting more sets of junk. And when i get them i also plan on getting new springs, a-arm, toe bolts, and camber arms and i was wondering if there is anything else i should get so nothing will go wrong because i do not want to cheap my way out of my car again.

Your budget will determine what many people tell you.
How low you would like to get will also determine the response. For instance, if you're only looking for a moderate drop (say 1-2inches) and you've got a 2grand budget, then you'll probably here something to the tone of KW V3 or Ohlins strut and spring combo or the like.
However, if you've got that same budget, and you want to slam your car (3+inches drop), then there aren't many coilover systems that will do that. A custom AST setup will run you somewhere in the 4grand range. Stance GR+ with Swift springs will run you roughly $1200-$1400. A BCR or D2 true setup will run you under a grand or just at it. However, track goons will tell you that Stance, BCR, and D2 are crap even though there are people that have been running them for YEARS with no issue.
At the end of the day, there will be no conclusive answer because people that run "junk coilovers" don't have any issue with them and people that don't run them will call them junk. The people that run the junk are probably more concerned with form over function and others are function over form. What side of the fence you are on will ultimately determine your choice.
That said, my usage is similar to yours. ONly difference is I do a bit of sliding from time to time. But I still don't drive my car quite 5000miles a year. I don't think I even I put 2000 miles on my car to be honest. But I run junk coilovers and I love my junk. It's a pretty color of junk and it gets me really low and I can put car blog stickers on it and cruise and everything. #boutthatlife. #flamesuiton #humanflame?

I'm waiting to find a set of vsxx works before I figure how low I can go depending on what size the wheels are that i can get my hands on, but it'll more then likely be around two inches or a little more because I doubt I can go much lower with a front lip without touching the floor, and I live in the country so there's lots of pot holes etc. but my budget isn't really a problem as long as its not exceeding like 4k

Nothing's wrong with them at all! Before I started really learning things about suspension I thought lowering sprigs were the only way to lower your car, and I started getting more and more into my car, and now I've given up everything for it lol, and now I want coils so I can adjust them to where I find a good height for where I live, nothing wrong with them, I just couldn't get my figment like I want it on just springs

Thank you, once again a thread of advice from people who think they know ****.
OP if your not tracking the car and just looking fro a drop, go with a budget coilover, BC Racing, Stance, Tein, Tanabe, Etc.
Just make sure to get rear extended adjusters for the coilovers to help reach the rear adjusters better.
Only reason im saying this is because OP isnt looking for performance but just a drop.

he says - no track, not even DD? - ocassional driving and "meets" - save money, get "looks coilovers" if that is your goal.
?recommending V3's or clubsports- this is a waste of money for the OP's goals.

wondering with all these threads recently about drop vs. performance - can we have separate forum areas?

sure, budget has something to do with it, but what are the op's goals?

That is a huge part of the selection. A 5k spring as a true coilover performs as a 12k would in OEM location. No matter what version, the damper still see's the wheel rate

So kw v3's or club sports aren't worth the money? And no I wouldn't track or do anything at all with my car just drive it an go to meets, I'm just looking for a decent drop around 3 inches with quality coils that I won't have to worry about them breaking or having to repair them all the time.. Just going for looks here!

Na man your just going for looks so damper quality is not going to be a concern. Thats why you buy more expensive coilovers is for the shocks or dampers. In your case just go with a top budget coilover like BC racing, Stance GR+, or the eibach suspension kit. That should get you to your goals, word of advice, BC racing doesnt go as low as the other two.

Definitely wont get the bc racing ones then cause I'm trying to go as low as possible, from what I've seen of the stance gr+'s I think I'm going to go with them, I think I'll be more then satisfied with them! But another quick question i have is will getting lowering springs with a bigger drop do the same as springs with only a .5 inch drop (what I have currently) after I have the coils at the lowest they will go?

BCs get you low. They get you VERY low. However, Stance GR+ and D2 are the lowest out there. As far as breaking all the time, I can't invision any coilover breaking all the time..especially with what you're going to be doing with your car. I've had BC's on my car and I'm currently running D2. Over the winter, I plan on trying the Stance GR+. I've gotten ride alongs in cars with the Stance and I don't feel the difference. But, I like the option to go with Swift springs and for my next setup, I just want to switch it up. If you've got a $1200 budget, go Stance. If you've got $1000, D2.
