Brake Failure
I had total brake failure yesterday after a panic stop. Pedal goes completely to the floor.
I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision (I got cut off). The lights on my dash came on (e-brake light, traction control light and one other one) and as I got back up to driving speed I went to brake and brakes would NOT work. Pedal down to the floor.
I managed to avoid another collision due to no brakes, and somehow pulled on a side street with an incline to come to a stop.
Its at Nissan now (they installed my rotors, brake lines and pads last fall). No response yet from them. Any one with similar issue?

So let me get this straight:
1) Someone cuts you off
2) You slam on your brakes
3) Nothing happens - lights come on
4) You decide "I have a great idea! I'll get back up to driving speed rather than test them at a low speed"
5) They don't work again
When was the last time you checked your brake fluid?

I'll make a wild guess that they didn't properly bleed the anti-lock part of the brake system, and this is the first time you've used it since they worked on it.
OR, something let loose, and you lost the fluid.

They forgot to bleed the ABS properly and check for bubbles. make sure they do it this time. I had this happen to me when i changed my SS lines and fluid, except i was at a test area, not on the freeway.
OP so next time you dont die, word of advice, if you hit your brakes super hard and your dashboard lights up like christmas tree, you might want to pull over at once, not test after you had the failure.

Brake line failure. Front right burst, front left almost gone, rears are fine. Thanks for the driving advice...I think you misunderstood what I wrote. In any event fortunate it happened now instead at the trackday I'm at this week going 100mph into the first turn at my local track.
I had ss brake lines installed recently with the last brake service, so kind of shocking they failed.

Techna-Fit was the brand of the brake lines.
There IS a possibility they were damaged about 2 1/2 months ago when I struck a metal poll that fell off a work truck on a highway. My skid plate was severely damaged and I had to replace the oil pan due to a massive dent...
The odd thing though was no real warning, very minor leakage of brake fluid just prior.
I did some google searches and it is surprising how many people have said they experienced sudden catastrophic brake failure due to ss lines rupturing.
Make sure you or your technicians inspect them thoroughly that's all I can say!!

Didn't notice that, one gone other almost done , bad install , the routing was probably wrong , clamp placement wrong and put tension on the line while at full lock.
I had to reread twice too terra, just because i thought i read something different, but my eyes were right
Wait, both sides ruptured? I find that hard to believe unless there was an impact right at that moment to cause both to burst.
If you suddenly lose pressure on any of the 4, it doesn't matter how intact the others are as you will lose brakes completely regardless.

Unless the Z is completely different than all other modern cars, this is not correct. The Z should have a dual master cylinder with one side controlling the front brakes and the other side controlling the back brakes. With the front line rupturing, you should still have rear brakes operational.
You might be right. I meant in a sense that your brakes will become useless, not that all 4 will become completely dysfunctional.
