Default Help I got the wrong rotors

help! I tried to install these rotors on my 2005 350z Enthusiast it appears to be too big. The caliper bracket won't line up to be bolted.

Amazon.com: Power Slot 126.42080SL Slotted Brake Rotor: Automotive Amazon.com: Power Slot 126.42080SL Slotted Brake Rotor: Automotive

and

Amazon.com: Power Slot 126.42080SR Slotted Brake Rotor: Automotive Amazon.com: Power Slot 126.42080SR Slotted Brake Rotor: Automotive

The old rotors are less than 12 inches in diameter, and these are bigger than 12.5".

I do not have the brembo brakes, thus the standard calipers too.

should I return these (yikes shipping is going to suck)
or
are there other brackets that will offset the caliper as needed?
or
is there a different part number for the rotor of the smaller diameter?

Chris

Those are for the 2006 and up without brembo. They are larger than the stock 2003-2005

Are you sure Amazon gave you the correct part? If not they will eat the shipping. Looks they have the part incorrectly classified.

I will use this opportunity to issue a PSA to automotive parts ordered from Amazon. I have ordered and installed a LOT of parts from Amazon, from balljoints to fuel pumps, and I have had a disproportionate amount failures from those parts. Not to mention the problem you are experiencing, and even incorrectly stocked parts (part #s do not match). They are accommodating, but it's not worth the effort honestly vs a few extra dollars from Rockauto. I think they have sourcing issues.

Amazon should swap them out and eat the shipping if they're listed incorrectly, or if they sent the wrong part numbers. Live and learn. i buy my EBC Redstuff pads from Amazon, but I always use the EBC catalog and order by their part number. I've gotten good deals on Redline gearbox and differential oils from Amazon, too, because I have Prime shipping. You just need to double check everything.

BTW, I see you're just south of me. If you can wait a few weeks maybe, I can sell you my '08 calipers for a good price. I have them back on the car because I needed to rebuild my Brembo's. About 30K miles on them and the calipers are in great shape, but the pads and rotors are worn.

They are fine for ordering fluids, pads and simple things, as you said just match the part #s (which has still been mixed up by them, fwiw)...But as a general rule things like wheel bearings, balljoints and fuel pumps I never order from them because they all seem to have a pattern of prematurely failing (sold directly by Amazon). Still warrantied and all that, just not worth my time anymore to risk it.

Sorry for your trouble, man.

This is the main reason I typically buy from our site sponsors like Z1. I have a relationship with them, and they take good care of me.

That will nvr happen w Amazon, just sayin. gl

thanks to all of you for your responses. Indeed it appears that Amazon has their database jacked up.

after a lot of research I think I have found the correct part numbers for the 2005 350z Enthusiast (not sure if any 2005 came with Brembo and if so, what trim level)

rear
126.42077SR/126.42077SL

fronts
126.42074SR/126.42074SL

When I pulled those number up on Amazon, their site states that it doesn't fit my car, whereas the larger rotors come up as fitting my car.

one of the rotors was purchased through Amazon using Prime (it appears that shipping back is free), the other was purchased through Amazon via SpeedXtreme, waiting to hear if they want to do a return or a swap.

Wouldn't I need the caliper brackets too? I guess I could try to source them from a junkyard or buy brand new. The calipers are stock 2008? They have double pistons? Would they fit under the stock 2005 17" rim?

thanks.

Save the rotors and find a set of Brembo calipers to upgrade to

Brackets would come with the calipers, since the Brembo's don't use any, and yes, these are original to the '08. Dual-piston fronts, single-piston rears, and the rotors are larger, too (which you know now). No issues with the stock wheels.

This is a very common upgrade to the earlier cars. There is probably a thread on this site about it.

But, the Brembo rotors are even larger than the rotors he has now, which apparently are for the standard brakes from '06>.
