Replacing Brake Pads
I brought my 08 350z in the dealership to have a oil change done to the car. After picking up my car they told me both front and rear brake pads need to be replace. They told me the front pads were 3mm and the back were at 5mm. The reason they told me the back pads needed to be replaced was. With the type of suspension my car has it is best to replace both front and back pads at the same time is this true or are they just trying to make more money off me.

It's a bit of a sales job, as the type of suspension doesn't really affect pad wear. But it's not difficult to DIY a brake pad change, so why not give it a shot yourself?
True. For LESS cash, you can buy better aftermarket pads and the basic tools needed, and of course, the tools can be used again and again. Same with your oil changes, BTW. Plenty of YouTube vids you can watch to help you out.
I can concur if you have the ability to change your oil you should be able to change brake pads relatively easy. I just did my first brake job last week and regret not trying it myself earlier.
However if you do not ever want to get into this type of stuff and you dont want to invest in tools rights now; at 3mm and 5mm your pads definitely should be replaced soon. Instead of taking it to the dealer where they may charge you 100s of dollars you can take it to a local shop, schedule it ahead of time and have this done within a few hours and less than $100.
