Default Factory EBRAKE removal

had anyone fully deleted the e brake? Pros and cons. I’m not sure if it has ever been done but I don’t ever use my e brake. I usually just park it in gear.

I see many mention that our ebrakes are crappy.

Thanks in advance.

Possibly one of the dumbest things I’ve seen yet. Not trying to insult you or make you feel bad.

But there is literally no pro, and all cons to doing this. Like having a big useless hole in your center console where the lever is supposed to be.

So to clarify...you are asking if anyone has ever PURPOSELY taken out their emergency brake?? The device that will allow you to actually STOP THE CAR if your brakes go out? And you're serious aren't you? Holy Sh*t....no....NO ONE HERE HAS EVER DONE THAT....and never would because it's f**cking ridiculous.

So are you planning to never park on a hill....ever??? Boston has no hills???

Wow...I have been on this forum for 13 years and I've seen a lot of stupid questions...but THIS? THIS is by far the STUPIDEST question I have ever seen.

No, don't do that. It'll just be a waste of your time.. You need your parking brake.

OK, OP, I’ll bite....

Just what would you hope to gain from deleting the e-brake?

Don't even say weight reduction either, OP.

Logic: brakes slow the car down so by removing them it will be faster.
Ergo: to make your Z super fast remove ALL the brakes.

I deleted my ebrake for a short time... The weight savings was significant.

Don’t listen to him he’s a liar^^

Those aren’t even his cars he just takes pics of his cool neighbors back yard from his window with all those junk Z’s. We like his neighbor more than him anyways.

That photo sort of reminds me of the wood chipper scene from "Fargo."

Lol. Speaking of Fargo. I think I recall a story about a guy that thought that movie was a true story and froze to death searching for the bag of money. I believe he may have been a contender for the Darwin Award that year.

Speaking of Darwin Awards, OP - remove your E brake. Guaranteed future contender.

Wow, I didn't know that the e-brake cable was that long.

I was actually considering doing this as well. Though I NEVER drive my Z on the streets. I believe the ONLY pro is weight reduction. But there's a lot of weight I'd remove before justifying that as the reason.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, so to add to the list of con's - Per 49 CFR 393.41 "Each singly driven motor vehicle ... must be equipped with a parking brake system adequate to hold the vehicle or combination on any grade on which it is operated, under any condition of loading in which it is found on a public road (free of ice and snow)."

TL;DR - It's illegal, too.
