coilover for track use

I got this much outta one of the guys at Zeal before he ran off to prep some more stuff for the up coming show.s Bare with me since this is only some specs.
-front and rear pillow ball upper mounts
-spring rates are 10 kgf/mm FRONT and 8 kgf/mm REAR but they offer custom rates
-inverted monotube type in the rear
-normal monotube type in the front (aluminum shell casing) for lightweight attributes for smooth, solid feel
-trackable and VERY streetable as well
-warranty included
-overhauling done in the U.S. so it's inexpensive
-tuning is derived from professional endless drivers in JGTC, Super Taikyu, etc. and settings are determined WITH streetability in mind
So that's what they told me to write. I hope that helps.

but i am just too greedy to get more inf!
any more inf when the zeal guy got time will be good.!!
thanks by the way
It is mild if you put it on the soft adjustment. But I've driven the JIC and I prefer the Zeals more. It's just not as twitchy over bumps and handles amazingly well. I can't tell until I get onto the track on how it performs overall, but so far, I'm ecstatic about this set.

and do a comparison with jic's plz!
Haha. When I track the car, it'll be at the end of summer with more than just coil-overs as my suspension. At that point, I don't think it'll be fair to do a comparison without installing JIC's into the same car and running that around the track too. All I can say is that I prefer the JIC over Tein's on the track, Teins over JIC's on the road, HKS over both on and off track, and Zeal rules all.
Ok, that might seem a little biased...

I ran the Tein flex coils with the EDFC at Laguna Seca a couple of weeks ago, and they worked exceptionally well. They are definitely softer than the JIC and stiffer than the HKS, at least it seems that way to me. I do not trailer the car, and have to drive to the events, so having the EDFC is nice because it allows you to get a decent ride on the highway, then dial it down to the track setting you want. I put stiffer sway bars on the car, so my set up now is much tighter than it would be with just the Teins doing all the work. That combo, plus the NISMO LSD, together with a lightweight flywheel, and it really helped maintain speed through and out of the turns.
My car is directed to developing the best track performance I can while maintaining true civil street manners, on a stealth platform. That is why the flex coil set up made the most sense. If you want to go for performance and will sacrifice more comfort and accept less civility, probably want to go with a different set up than mine.

Mr B - so its YOUR car that go them eh? I've been talking to kent about them as we ar about to get the brakes sorted for my car, and he has been trying to get me to take the Zeal plunge. Current arrangements won;t allow me too, but I ahve always been a Zeal fan for track based setups..who knows, maybe I'll change to something else this summer or next.
Whcih brake kit did you end up goig with specifically....they offer so many, I am having a tough time deciding

I went with the one they run on the JGTC car. The whole front and back package. 14.5" rotors with 6 piston front and 13.1" rotor with 4 piston in back. Let me tell you, they over power the tires quite easily if you really stomp on them. I think I need stickier tires.
I really like the Zeal setup and I think you should consider it along with the Endless kit. Then I can have a twin car on the other side of the country.
Eagle1 - That's funny. I found my HKS to be stiffer than Teins and found the Type Flex to be too soft on the track. Weird.

comfort is not a big issue to me since z33 is not my daily drive!

On the track I was using the EDFC setting at 6front and 8rear, which was not terribly aggressive.
My springs were the newer 12kg rather than the previous version of 10kg. I found them to be quite up to the task and perhaps my brother trackster was using the earlier and softer version. A 10kg spring would definitely be too soft. But the 12kg, with the EDFC set at the softest setting, is still about the same as stock, and then only gets more stiff as you adjust down the scale. Through in the stiffer sway bars and it hangs tough. Put it down to 0 or 2 in front and 2 or 4 in the rear, and you loose fillings in your teeth.
I was not using the track tires that day, but just the stock street pilots at 40psi. It worked well enough to track down and pass a Vette Z06 on Hoosiers. Two laps to make up a quarter mile gap, and two more to leave him far enough behind that he never again made the rear view mirror.
The Nismo LSD is set at the medium setting as well.
The Nismo flywheel is 23 pounds.
The car is lowered .8 inch in front and 1.2 inch rear.
That is about all that I can think of at the moment that would impact the cornering. Hope that helps. Cheers.

Nothing wrong with the Teins on the track at all, but there just are better coil-overs out there. I believe the HKS and the Zeals are quite a bit more expensive than the Teins and JIC's. Retail, they're in the mid to upper 2k range. Oh, and the Teins hand fine on the track.

Thanks.
PS I'm thinking Tein flex with EDFC.

Hrm, maybe the new Teins are better. No matter, I'm very happy with my Zeals and the HKS Damper II's that I had before too.

did u forget about me??
We're still trying to get him on. For some reason, he registered but his account hasn't been accepted. I'll have him register again. We're also busy with preparations for SEMA IAS. I'll try to get more info from him in the next couple of days.
