Correct Rack and Pinion of 06 350z?
Hello all,
I have been in search of a new power steering rack for my 350z. I have a 2006 350z made in 04/2006. It is a base model from the looks of it and after a search throughout the car parts, I have found many different types of rack and pinion of the 2006 350z. Does anyone know how I can narrow down the results or if anyone can point me in the right direction? Some search have shown a rack and pinion with a EV0 (not sure what that is) and others have shown rear active steering. Is there any way for me to find that out for my car? I always assumed that the 03-06 were mostly similar but I guess not. I also think I have the Rev Up version because I have the manual. Thank you very much for helping.

Sorry, long.
EVO stands for Electronic Variable Orifice & it changes the pressure in the system for more or less assistance. Low speed parking lot maneuvers are less effort where higher speeds require more effort to steer.
Some racks come with the component & others don't. (If equipped, you'd move your EVO over from the old rack or it may come with one.)
I don't know which models have EVO or don't. Or, if they all have it. However, if you look at yours and an accurate pic of the correct rack, you should be able to spot if they're compatible. Rock Auto has a pretty good VIN decoder. Then, just read the footnotes to know the different specifications.
You can probably disregard any tagged as rear racks, as I'm fairly sure you're asking about the front. Also, do yourself a favor and get new outer tie rod ends. If it were me, I'd replace the hoses and maybe even the pump. Regardless, please, please take the time to flush the system, otherwise you'll be doing it again, and soon.
Pardon the pun, but I'd steer clear of Cardone. Instead, look for a MAVAL or Atlantic Automotive. Use the old rack as a template for initial adjustment of the outer tie rod ends, and please get an alignment immediately after installing. Also make sure to get the correct P/S fluid, NOT Honda and NOT hydraulic fluid like CHF-11S. Check your owners manual for genuine Nissan fluid if you're unsure.
