Default Wheel suggestion with big brake kit

I tried to install the Z1 motosports big brake kit on my 06 350. I uses the 4 piston calipers off a 370Z with sport brakes. It says it will work with most aftermarket 18" wheels. Is anyone running this kit with 18's? What wheels work?

There are far too many wheels that will and many that won't work. This is what you need to properly shop for wheels to use with the Akebono setup:

Check out this thread. It looks like there were some variances depending on where the BBK was purchased. I guess the mounting brackets differed slightly.

Good resource, Daniel.

Read somewhere that spacers were used/needed to clear under stock wheels but as that other thread shows, may not be necessary.

Another thing to keep in mind, 370Z front wheels have a much bigger offset, 19” barrels; and while that’s for revised suspension mostly, could also explain why Akebonos clear the Z34 wheels.

Just speaking from personal experience, I have some Touring V2 18" wheels that I put on my Z in the winter time as "rollers." They fit but it is extremely tight. I had to knock off the stick-on wheel weights on the inner barrel because they were coming into contact with the Akebono caliper. I also test-mounted the double-stagger 18"/19" Nismo wheels on there and the 18"s on the front would catch a small part of the caliper and prevent it from spinning freely. As Mic mentioned, you can put some spacers on there so that the part of the barrel that hits the caliper gets pushed away from the caliper and solve this problem. Or, you can grind off part of the caliper, but I chose not to go that route.

However, not all 18"s have the same inner barrel design. So, while some 18"s will fit (like the popular RPF1s), others will not based on the design of the barrel. It's best to download the aforementioned template and try it out on the wheels in question.

Not like the 14" brakes are a huge upgrade, if one wants a 18"wheel it's best to stay with the 13" brakes. Not to mention the added weight and all that.

I assume by your Sig that you were actually using them lol, they fit but it's more detrimental to a street car.
