Question Need help on oem brakes and brake kits.

I have a big break kit that came with my Z when i bought it and i recently bought new wheels. Wheels wont clear the brake kit without spacers. I dont like the look of how much my wheels stick out. I was told to oem brakes just to fit the wheels but i dont think thats a good idea. What are some wheels that will clear the brake kit?

Welcome- but your question leaves us with more questions than easy answers. You say you have a "big brake kit", but don't specify what brand or type of kit? If it's just the rotors, that's not a kit at all. A big brake kit for the Z33 usually includes a matched two-to-four piston caliper with appropriately sized rotors and possibly SS brake lines.

You also didn't specify what year or model of Z you have. That would indicate what type and size brakes you have currently. OEM brake calipers (or aftermarket big brake kits) are designed around a specific size and dimension rotor. What it seems you have right now is bigger (diameter and width?) rotors, but what did it come off originally?

Sorry , i know i wasnt specific. I am just getting into car game i guess you can say. I bought a 2007 350z base model. Previous owner put on stop tech rotors and calipers and i know for a fact it is a big break kit. I took the previous wheels off because i didnt like them and bought news ones not realizing i had a big brake kit. I got spacers on now with the new wheels but I dont like the look of wheels sticking out so much. My plan is to go low but now i would need a camber kit.

What are the wheel specs? Post pictures of the brakes.

By the way it's "brakes" not "breaks" you want your car to brake, not break lol

Also, it would be stupid to downgrade brakes just to fit a set of wheels.

Where are they "not fitting"? From your having to use spacers, sounds like a matter of caliper to wheel face clearance (NOT barrel clearance).

What's most likely needing to happen is to use wheels with a more concave design (spokes/face bowed outwards), often referred to as the type of disc arrangement where high disc is the most concave (or convex depending on which side you're viewing it from ) and affords the most caliper clearance (low disk being the opposite).

As SQualZ and dkmura mention: Pics would be helpful. Generally speaking, StopTech ST-40 calipers aren't that difficult to fit, usually able to use Medium disk wheels. (ST-60s are a different story.)

Oh, one more thing: "My plan is to go low but now i would need a camber kit"

Just reiterating, if you drop the car more than about an inch, it's an absolute necessity. There is NO POINT to putting on light wheels and serious rubber if your alignment is off and out of spec; that takes away any gain you might have had with the new rubber.

I never understand why people (not you, just a general statement) seem to focus on the rolling stock when the alignment is as critical a "component" to a working suspension (maybe moreso) as the choice of wheels and tires....

Yes it is stupid lol , wont be doing that. Wheel specs right now are 18x9.5 +22 front / 18x10.5+35 rear
i need some suggestion on wheels where i dont have to run a 30mm spacer. I dont mind having to run a spacer just not that size.
Here is the pic of the brakes i have https://gyazo.com/da74453d6b4a9b52c4ddd25b995aedd8

YIKES!! Granted, when the car is off the jack and down on the tire, it will pull in some but that's ridiculous! Those wheel specs are fine - but for the brake clearance issue - but with a 30mm spacer, you're at -8 up front. Hmmmm.... must be some mondo brakes to require that much spacing (or the wheels have no concavity at all.)

And might note that since you may be returning your set of wheels for another, the rears can go down to between +15 and +25 - depending on tires and your lip clearance (rear caliper clearance isn't as big of a deal given the size of the rear calipers) - for a better track width.

What's the budget? And what style are you looking at? (Can't tell from pic) Asked because you can get an exactly appropriate wheel but at what cost? We could tell you to go buy some forged modulars but if you're not wanting to spend $4k...

Off top of head, a lot of the Volks, SSR, Work wheels have a decent BBK clearance even in their one-piece wheels. But at a price.

Example: http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/mm...gory_Code=Volk

Keep in mind one thing, the larger the lip (so very fashionable ), the less clearance for real performance brakes (trade off between performance and fashion.)

Like MicVelo said, Volks (particularly TE's) have some of the best caliper clearance we've seen in our shop. Hhow much clearance do you have from the caliper with those spacers? We recommend at least 5mm for wheel weights+road debris, so you may be able to tuck those in a little bit with smaller spacers. I would recommend going on the StopTech website and downloading their wheel fitment template. You can cut the template out and test to see if wheels will clear your brakes before you buy them.

Thanks for the info. The clearance between the wheel and caliper is less than a finger. The spacer im running is 30mm.
