Default Dark Blue Stoptechs

For those of you thinking about upgrading brakes, here is a picture that Stoptech sent me of their dark blue caliper. I'm expecting the 4 wheel kit in about 2 weeks. Should look sweet on my CS Z.

Do Dark Blue cost more? Is it a special order color?

Yes, I think it was around $400 more do to special color. I believe red, black, and silver are at no additional charge. I've been told the dark blue caliper is very similar to the blue on the Z (which is a sweet color by the way). Yeah, Jason please posts pics when you guys get done with yours. I'll post pics of mine in a few weeks when they come in and are installed.

Thanks for buying guys...you will definitely not be disappointed!

Yes, blue is a special order item that costs $100 more per caliper.

J Ritt, hey guy. From what I know, Stoptech is the leader. Is there a way you can update me on the status of my order? Shawn Grinnen - order placed through Dan at Godspeed Inc. in Novi Michigan about 3 weeks ago. I'm pretty sure it will take a few more weeks, but I can't wait to get them on the Z

Our paint guy having to stop his batch, set up new paint for one set of calipers...double ouch. Therein lies the problem. If you want something good, and you want it custom, you always pay for it. It's worth it to many to have something unique though.

I agree with J Ritt and completely understand the reason for the extra expense. You typically or always get what you pay for. An extra $400 isn't really that bad considering the scope of things.

The Stoptechs on my coupe are the dark blue, with a five spoke wheel to show them off even better (Nismo 18" with Toyo RA-1s for the track and A&L Saruwatari 19" forged split spoke with SO-3's for the street).

Virtually every mod done has been directed to performance and utility, and nothing to aesthetic appeal or panache. So why on earth do the calipers in blue? Especially when it does absolutely NOTHING for the performance of the car?

Exactly. That IS the reason. They do nothing additional and that is obvious to anyone. And no other changes are apparent at all.

No wings, no scoops, no fender flares, no air dams, no lambo doors, no body kits no decals .......no nothing. The Tein EDFC is hidden in the roll top cubby behind the parking brake, the V-1 remote is in the push-pop ashtray, the gauges are hidden in the flip up map compartment, all go invisible with a wave of the hand.

Just a way to mess with heads.

Oh. And I like the way blue looks.

Moodie:
I am swapping out the wheels and tires from the track set up to the street set up today. When that is done I will take some pics and create another set for you to see the wheel and tires set up on the car with the Saruwatari forged 19" wheels and S03 tires, with some close ups and full frame car pics for perspective, as you requested.
