btw I still own my 300zxtt and yes the brakes suck.

But if you guys are looking for inexpensive calipers, pep boys sell the oem z32 caliper in a reman for 90 bucks + core.

Yeah... It's a pretty popular conversion for the 240's

Really? I Never got that T/B. What year is your Z32? I never had the slightest problem with my brakes and alwat thought that they were very good considering the weight of the car. Like I said before, the only thing I ever had to do was change out my brake pads every now and them.

NOW I see this?? After I sold my z32 brakes I had on my 240 when it got totalled =/ I had the lines, brembo rotors and all and I had the calipers painted black with the NISSAN in white. I think the z32 30mm calipers are great, what I think their main downfall is that it uses such a small rotor. You should look into fabbing a bracket that will allow you to use maybe a 13" rotor. Although the pad wont actually sweep all the surface of the rotor, youll get much better heat dissipation and youll also get better braking since your pad will be clamping down further from the center of the hub. Just some thoughts....

Thats what I think my project is going to be. I will be purchasing a set of calipers as soon as possible to begin test fitting. I'm gonna be HOT on this until I see for myself that it wont work.

Make sure you get the 30mm aluminum ones and not the 26mm aluminum ones!

I'm on it. If you guys have any information to share that might be useful to this little project please feel free to jump in anytime.

Could this be due to the extra weight that the 300zxtt is carrying?

or

Do they just not bite or fade easily?

I'd figure anything could beat the one-pot in non-brembo Z33's.

The lesser weight of the 350Z running 300zx calipers is definitely a bonus.
My stock z32 brakes sucked on the track and I even cracked a few skyline rotors using the caliper relo kit and the larger 12.8 inch rotors. The braking ability was definitely increased with the larger rotors, they just didn't last long. The rotos also cracked before I boiled any fluid, so that is proof to me of the ability of the caliper. z32 calipers with a larger rotor would probably be a pretty decent upgrade to the stock z33 single pistons. How much better is anyone's guess. I've upgraded to stopetechs on the z32 after all the cracked rotors (never, ever purchase DBA drilled rotors btw) and I had to upgrade to stoptechs on the z33 after I blew out a caliper seal in the middle of a track session and the damn thing caught on fire.

The main problem I see with using z32 calipers is their age and condition. Even remanufactured/rebuilt calipers may have scored pistons and you run the risk of the same with used ones from ebay. If you get a set in good condition however, i think it may be a worthwhile upgrade. Just my $.02

The calipers themselves are great. I think the problem lies in Nissan having to use a smallish 11.x rotor to fit under the stock 16" wheels.

Our setup is being designed around rotor thats a bit thicker and larger in diameter than a stock non brembo 350Z, with the 300ZX TT calipers

That would make since wouldn't it. I would personally like to make a kit that uses the 03-05 non-brembo sized rotors to keep it cost effective upgrade for the masses.

So far I that gathered a lot of information regarding the calipers themselved to I can make choose from the best slelctions.

Just a bit of information I've manage to uncover so far.

so it seems like you guys are more worried about clamping force than brake fade... I would rather have larger rotors than better calipers if i had to chose one... this would fight heat, brake fade, and possible warping... larger calipers just give you more clamping force.... looks could go either way... better calipers look nice... but might look funny on small rotors.... larger rotors always look nice, but not GREAT without better calipers.
