Default Need advice on how to get Stoptech rotor off.

I am trying to remove the Stoptech kit from my car and I cannot get the front rotor off the hub. I have banged, pried, beat, and sprayed it down with WD-40.

Any suggestions, it is stuck?

Sometimes they get stuck. If your rotor is shot just hammer it out. If you going to reuse it, use a rubber mallet and a piece of wood to protect the rotor to hammer it out.

if you use a rubber mallet hit the rotor part from the rear... and not on the center hat... that's the most expensive piece.

Try to "gently" persuade it to come off.

Or call stoptech and they should be able to help.

Do you have aftermarket wheels with a centering ring on the hub? If so get that off first and then tap around with a rubber malet.

No hubcentric rings....

I tried beating on it with a hammer and phone book, I will try the rubber mallet. I do plan to reuse the rotor, so I would like to keep it in one piece.

Thanks for the advice, I will post when I get is figured out.

Oh, what do you think is holding it on, rust?

It probably is stuck due to rust. On the driver side I had to really lay into it. I thought it would never come off. Slowly but surely it came out.
