Default New alignment specs????

Does anyone know if there are new alignment numbers after the latest update from NNA to the dealers and techs? What should the toe in be from factory? I'm getting an alignment from a outside shop, and want to know what they should be. Thanks for the help....

Bump!

What, nobody has them?

The TSB states :

Total Toe-in :
Min 0mm (0 in) (0 degrees)
Nom 1mm (.04 in) (0.1 degrees)
Max 2mm (.08 in) (0.2 degrees)

and prefered setting is MAX!

The rest, Latest values I have are from Oct 2003 :

Camber :

Front between -1.3 and 0.2 degrees
Rear between -2.1 and -1.1 degrees

Caster :

Front between 7.4 and 8.9 degrees

But these values could be old...

I just had mine done and the car handles badly...you might want to think twice before doing it. If you have a fax # I can send you the spec's from the dealership. Vin

Apparently the rear can not be adjusted according to the dealership.

You can adjust camber on the rear, which based upon the way the adjuster is attached, will also affect toe. Of course, this will also affect the thrust angle.

I just had my brand new 2004 re-aligned b/c it was pulling to the right:

LEFT REAR
Min. Nominal Max. Actual
-2.08 -1.58 -1.08 -1.2 CAMBER (deg.)
0.10 0.50 0.90 3.4 TOE (mm)

RIGHT REAR
Min. Nominal Max. Actual
-2.08 -1.58 -1.08 -1.5 CAMBER (deg.)
0.10 0.50 0.90 2.8 TOE (mm)

Total Rear Toe is off 4.1mm from Max.

So, I too am very curious if the toe is adjustable on the rear. If it is, the dealership completely ignored the fact that it is way out of spec on the rear!

I am happy that they were able to fix the pull by adjusting the front toe which was off by a similar margin. The car is still slightly "skittish" though and I think adjusting the rear toe would solve that.

On the front, only toe is adjustable. On the rear both camber and toe are adjustable, and make sure the dude aligning it changes the rear camber before the toe. My car is aligned at zero toe front, zero toe rear and 1° camber in the rear and it handles great - reduced understeer quite a bit actually.

Good to know! thanks.

Did you mean negative 1° camber? My alignment shows any positive cambe as out of range.

That's also interesting about zero toe, since the feathering TSB states 2mm as being "preferred." Where did you get the zero figure? Is that new?

1° negative camber in the rear. When I put my car on the rack after I got it, it had 2.9mm total toe out in the front and 1.9m toe in, in the rear. At first I tried running toe out in the rear (tried 1 and 2mm settings) and it really made the back end hard to control, especially under braking and lift throttle (while turning) situations - it wanted to rotate or break loose way too easy. On top of that I did a 400 mile road trip with the rear toe out and it really wore out the insides of the tires, i was shocked how fast they wore. I went to zero rear toe and it got rid of the instabilty in the rear, but was still a little easier to rotate than stock. Wanting a little more rear rotation (for autocrossing) I took out rear camber and that helped a tiny bit. Stock was at 2° neg on the left and 1.6° on the right. Now it's 1.1° neg on both sides.

3mm front toe out seemed like a lot for a factory setting, and according to the machine at the dealer it was out of spec. I went to zero toe for a starting point and couldn't even tell the difference, so I just left it. I was expecting to run 1-2mm out in the front, but i just decided to leave it at zero hoping to help tire wear issues.

I'm more or less going off feeling and driving impressions. I autocross 2-3 times a month so it's easy to feel what alignment setting is doing, and I've had some feedback from some experienced people who really know what they're doing. The current settings seem to give a good balance between the stock understeering setting, and having lots of rear rotation. I didn't know exactly to get the front end to steer more, so I concentrated on making the rear easier to break loose or rotate, while maintaining good control and stabilty. So far so good.

you guys really might want to consider getting the car aligned at a professional alignment shop. sure it will cost more (maybe) but it will be right. my guy has the newest hunter laser equipment and probably spends 45 minutes getting it perfect. the nissan techs don't give a crap if they get it right or not. they also don't care if their equipment is calibrated or not. i had my one, free alignment done at the dealer. actually acclerated my tire wear so bad i had to get a new set $900 set of tires about 10K miles too early. now with the same amout of miles on my new tires with the new alignment, everything is great.

good luck.
