Default linear springs, little to no drop?

I'm looking for some linear springs with little or no drop. I don't want a progressive spring rate.. it's hard to find any aftermarket linear springs. Not really interested in a drop either.

any suggestions?

Believe me, I know where your coming from. I sincerly hope that as good aftermarket shocks come one line that we'll see some good linear springs come one line that are 10 to 25% stiffer than oem with .6" or no drop at all. In the mean time two things come to mind. One, RSR down springs (or the TI2000 model). They are not technically linear in the front, but looking at the springs, they have only one coil that would bind at best in the front. Rear's are linear. Of course I haven't taken a dial caliper to them to check wire diameter from top to bottom. As you've discovered for yourself, all other lowering springs are progressive.

The other thought that comes to mind is to contact Eibach. They can make springs to your needs. How they'd figure out your ride height, hmm that would be tricky IMO.

Hotchkis is your answer.

they lower (claimed) .5" f and .75" rear

had mine on for a couple weeks and it is at .4" f and .6 r, looks perfect to me, non-Z owners probably don't even notice a differnce (which I like), but guys that know what they are looking for do.

That's really good news about the hotchkis springs. I'll have to look into them further. The hotchkis site does not list the spring rate.

Gsedan35 - Thanks for the input. The R*SR springs won't work for me, as any binding at all is unacceptable. I don't want to be in a tight corner at the track and have the springs bind and rapidly change spring rate. That's a recipe for disaster, IMO.

Just an idea but I think Ground Control will give you whatever spring you ask for. They are technically sleeve coilovers but I know on the B15 board a lot of people ordered them with custom spring rates. Then you could just set the coller to stock height. They went for about 399 for the set (all 4)

What are the rates, and how do they feel on the road??

Does it do anything for the bounce??

A bit hesistant on this only cause I think you would have to replace the shocks to get rid of the bounce. These springs and the Hotchkis sways seem like a nice affordable combo. But since the springs are linear(which I like), do they do anything for bounce and I wonder what they would act like with the very expensive Konis.

it is a little hard for me to really judge what it does to the "bounce" since that usually takes place when driving on a freeway and hitting certain undulations in the road. Since I have only driven it on the freeway 1x when I was coming home from getting them installed, it is hard to know. It does seem a bit better, but maybe just a placebo? I work <3 miles from my house, so hard for me to judge as well.

I've got the springs and sway from Hotchkis. The best way to describe them is more firm while being less harsh. IMO, the ride is much better, in fact my wife even noted the same thing. They are linear and more stiff, but rates are not advertised (some kind of secret thing ). I still thing the stock shock suck, but this is a great first step.

Check out TitanMotorsports for the package at $450 USD shipped. Great price for such a good package.

Default Bounce

I think some people also confuse the "bounce" thing, although I am not making that an accusation of anyone here. I have never experienced the "freeway" bounce, which I imagine as sort of an oscillation in the ride which is progressive and some kind of harmonic thing (happened once in my old Honda CRX on one particular highway). I think the stock setup also has a sort of everyday bounciness about it, a sort of rebound bounce. I didn't notice this too much as the driver, but my wife made the comment after I changed to the Hotchkis springs: I can ride in your car now without feeling queasy, that bounciness is gone!

I have definitely seen an improvement in daily driving with the Hotchkis springs, have not got out on highway too much yet. The car has lowered just as stated by Hotchkis, subtle but definitely noticeable (even wife noticed ).

WOW, thanx for the compliments, my car isn't as radical or done up as many on this board, but I like the clean look. I have modified the wheels a bit (will post pics when I get a few more things done) and they even look bigger/meaner now. I can't wait til I at least get the VS version 1 lip and tint, then my exterior mods are done.

So I think we've finallly found some true linear springs. If only the drop was a little bit more. Where's the cheapest place to get these springs?
