Question Front brake rotors---Is this normal

Noticed on my front brakes that there is a lip on the outside of the disc. My Z has just under 14k miles and I do mainly city driving. Do I need new front discs or will turning them help? If they are turned how much more life is in them? Is this type of wear covered under warranty? Thanks.

That's normal. I'm over 40k mi on the original rotors. I have a set of front rotors from a G35 that I'll probably be installing in the next 5k mi.

Turning is a good idea if you do new pads but is not essential. Don't let your mechanic turn your rotors too long. All it does is make a flat surface to match your new pads and reduce squeal. I wouldn't turn my rotors more than twice.

The wear is not covered under warranty. However, I have heard that the G's have had problems and their rotors and brakes are covered under warranty as a TSB. Very unusual for that to happen.

It is normal as the pad doesn't cover the entire surface of the rotor so the edge will not wear with the reat of the rotor.

You do not need the rotors turned unless they are worn unevenly due to grooves or you feel vibrations.

Brakes are usually not covered under warranty as they are wear items.
