Default Replacing Rotors

Hi all,

I'm new to modding and just got my Z (04 SS Touring). Anyone else think the Non-Track rotors are kinda plain?

Is it possible to just swap out stock rotors and replace the lines and pads later? I have stock 18s and I'm looking into the Stoptech drilled rotors for a fresh new look. I've search the threads but haven't found the answer. If this has been discussed already I do apologize, but I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Sure you can do that. Just make sure you follow the bedding procedure for the new rotors. It would be better to replace the pads at the sane time though and bed them together.

Both stop tech and rotora make rotors that are direct replacements. We sold some rotora's to a guy with a black roadster on here. they look really nice.

Thanks for the tip. Since my car is fairly new, would it be necessary to replace to pads at the same time? Do you know if the stock pads would fit around aftermarket rotors?

No you don't have to replace your stock pads. It was just a suggestion since you've already got the calipers off. Getting Hawk HP+ or EBC Greenstuff will greatly reduce the dust and they grab better. It's your decision.

Stock pads will fit as long as you get OEM size replacement rotors like the StopTechs or Rotora as suggested by Vivid.

Excellent! Thanks for the feedback zwindsor and vivid.

zwindsor, I agree with the new pads. I hate dealing with the constant brake dust. I washed my car on Saturday and my wheels are already filthy! I only asked about the stock pads so my wallet doesn't take too much of a hit.

Thanks again!
