Removal of alignment pin on front rotor

Have '04 Track model. Wheels I want to use require removal of front rotor alignment pin. Is it ok to do so? If not, why.

No problem if you remove it. It's there for idiots who try to rotate tires and forget that in some cases the wheel width is different between front and back.
