Default Big Brake kit thought

I was just thinking about this. If you have a BBk and you get a flat, you're toast. I'm willing to bet no one who has a BBK has a full size spare in their trunk; And obviously the factory donut will not fit. Have any of you BBK guys ever got a flat and how much of a hassel was it?

Not that i have a big brake kit, but I ditched the spare for a can of fix-a-flat myself. Just gotta hope that it seals! That's probably what they do.

yeah, i realized this a week after my bbk kit

since i have aftermarket wheels, i carry one of my front track rays in place of the spare now. yeah it has the bulge in the trunk now, but i'd rather not deal with a tow truck.

Default Dumb Question

Didn't Nissan make the spare to fit over the brembo's and wouldn't that fit most BBK's??
I have the AP Racing 14.25" and never gave this subject a thought. Need a can of Fix a Flat

I don't know if everyone does this but had a buddy that worked at a tire shop. He told me fix a flat sprays this stick foam type stuff in your tire. It sticks to the tire and hardens and so they have to scape it out to repair a tire. He said most of the time they would just tell people the tire was unreparable becuase of the pain in the *** it is to scape that crap out. I would rather get a tow truck than buy a new tire.

For those of you who are concerned, have you tried putting the spare on for fit? I guess it's not obvious to me that it won't fit properly. If it doesn't fit, perhaps fitting a spacer may work.

Absolutely true. If you use fix a flat, you can forget about getting that tire patched or plugged. Tire shops simply won't patch or plug a flat tire that had fix a flat sprayed into it. I'm speaking from personal experience.

i've never actually tried on the factory spare, but just eyeballing it next to the wheel, it wont fit over my 14" stoptechs.

M3s don't have a spare... why should we?

It's called AAA.

i think the new M3s do have a space saving spare.. my old E36 M3 had a full sized spare.. regardless AAA is a solution.. but its nice to have a spare...

buy the roadhazard warranty on your tires. in the event of a flat, you can use fix a flat and get a new tire for free.

just buy this 1" spacer from summit racing, and get 5 spare lugnuts (1/2" thread btw), and then if you lose one, you can most likely use your spare with the spacer. It lets me use a 16" drag wheel on the rear of my car with brembos.

Default TPS!!!!

Now that I think about it the fix a flat probably won't be a good idea with the TPS. I think AAA is the ticket! No point to carry spare if you can't use it.

I have the AP Racing 14.25".
The Nissan OEM donut spare on Track model Z cars is different than the other Zs without Brembos! The Track model donut will fit over the 13" diameter Brembos, but will not fit 14" BBKs! I doubt the Base, Enthusiast, Performance or Touring model donuts will fit over the Brembos.

Here's another thought/suggestion:

Carry a tire plug set and a cheap air compressor (ac powered via cigarette lighter) or C02 cartridge w/adapter. It'll let you get back on the road for the 90% chance that it's just a nail or screw. If you gouge your sidewall however, AAA.

The E46 M3's do not come with a spare. They come with a CO2 cartridge and that fix-a-flat stuff.

but who want to wait an hour or more for AAA? you are better off just buying the 1" spacer and using your stock spare.
