Default Brake fluid level question.........

About every 2-3k miles (I have 9k on the Z) my brake fluid level seems to drop about 1/2". I have checked for leaks everywhere - none. Changed to SS lines about 6k miles ago and no leaks there. Can't figure it out unless this is a common occurance. Don't remember this happening as often on any of my other cars I've had. Does this occur with anyone else? Thanks in advnce for the suggestions/comments.

This is normal...

As your brake pads wear down, obviously something pushed them there!! Your fluid!!

I doubt it's 1/2" as that's the distance between the min and max levels. Once you change your pads, you'll see the fluid shoot back to max as it's all in the lines currently.

Thanks for the info Chris. Yes, I might have overstated the 1/2" drop in the level, but the drop every few thousand miles had me worried a bit. I knew someone's analytical mind would come up with a reason - your explanantion sounds logical. Not as worried here now!

Default Turned out there was a problem......

Found the problem today.........a slight seepage of fluid under pressure from passenger side front bleeder valve - enough to lose a little fluid over the course of a couple thousand miles. Have always been a little hesitant on tightening bleeder valve since I snapped one off years ago - ha! Did give this one a little extra tighten today.
