Moved from the Engine section to the Z Coupe section.

You talking about a Base out the door, or before tax and license? Your short credit history may make for a higher than average APR.

You can use the payment calculator on the Nissan site to find your answer with exact numbers.

Like I have told many, since the Z has been out for more than 2 yrs now, you can easily purchase one at invoice + and - $300. I would NOT recommend that you go above that, otherwise you'll be just throwing money at the dealer. Contact about 3-4 internet managers of your choice and tell ask for a quote, then work the dealers against each other (when you reply to an offer, DO NOT tell them what dealer is giving you what offer, just reply w/ the offer because the dealers can collude and work against you. You can try New-Nissans.Com as someone recommended to me (Thx), but they are out-of-state, so use that as your leverage. New-Nissans is not an viable option for most people since it's not w/in Cali and the car has to go thru tons of crap b4 u can drive it. I've been shopping around in NorCal and so far I got $300 aboive dealer invoice at the moment. Just keep tryin', don't give in!

Oh, and, deal w/ OTD price ONLY. Just work the calulations backwards and know your monthly payments. From what i've asked and researched, most people are getting APRs of 3-6%. But that's fyi only. U shoul care about OTD only

If you make $3,500 a month and you have no bills then you should be able to afford the Z. It all depends on how fast you want to pay it off.

Most likely pretty high. You should try getting a free quote and get some rough numbers going.

I'm 22, under my dad's name but I just give him the money. With Allstate its $96/mth for me with $1000 deductible. I chose it over the $125/mth with $500 deductible.

Yup, get those insurance quotes. You might be unpleasantly surprised...

Or you could do what engiNERD did and use your parents as the primary drivers. That'll help some.

Check out Progressive.com rate quote. They also allow you to compare rates with other insurance companies.

What is your credit score. If you don't know, get that info before you buy.

ummm... why not get out on your own and put that money towards a mortgage? Then again ... you are in CA. No idea what kind of place would be affordable out there.

Oh, just looked it up on realtor.com. Found TONS of decent places you could afford on your salary.

I was looking in San Diego on realtor.com, like I said. Someone that makes $3500 a month and has no other bills can afford a decent mortgage.

I don't know your personal finances, so I can't comment on that. But I do have a friend who makes much less than $3500 a month and bought his own condo.

Its not my intention to berate anyone, but all I can say is, if my kid grows up and buys an expensive new car while still living rent-free in my house, I'm kickin his rear.

Wow, so your planning on spending almost half your income on a car?

That's not smart. You're 19 though and probably won't be able to make a decision without consulting your ego for at least another 5-6 years.

I guess I can't really blame you though. I probably would have done the same thing at your age.
