Default pricing for a quick sale

I am moving to center city and can't keep my car. I need to sell it by sept 1. I currently owe 24000 and I guess I would take the closest offer to that...and possibly eat the diference.

I know about looking up the value of my Z on kbb and edmunds , etc. But I was wondering if I could get opinions on how much you think I should ask to guarantee a quick sale for when I put it in the newspaper. My 2003 Silverstone Touring Z, will all options except navigation has 38,000 miles and was just inspected last month. It has new Hawk HPS brake pads and fairly new yokohomo es100 tires and it has no known issues. I have done a search, and am just looking for some quick opinions. Thanks. And, great forum by the way, it has been very helpful in the past two+ years.

the miles are a killer!

6-speed?

Honestly, you MIGHT get some sucker to pay $21K for it. With those miles, trade-in is probably $18K, if that. Sorry.

True, miles happen, but your just shy of 40k miles, thats alot for this weekend cruiser type sports car. My buddy has 7k miles on his 03, thats extreme as he doesnt drive it that much since he works alot and also has a jeep, but I feel I drive mine alot, I have an 03 with just over 16k miles. If you price it low you wont have any problem trying to sell it. If you want a real quick sale, obviously just take it to a dealer, they will bend you over without the decency to give you KY though. Just messing around I took my 03 Track to a dealer when I had 14k miles and he said the best they would give me is 21k $. lol BEN

DEALER TRADE IN= Butt Rape

Yeah, I have 26K on my 03 performance and it's an early 03 (no feathering or tranny problems either, knock on wood). Almost 3 years old and it's my daily driver but I bought it low and try to keep them low. Your miles aren't outrageous though, just higher than I would want on a used Z unless it was pretty cheap (18K or so). Just my opinion though.

for a quick sale is say even less than 18500 bc the person will low ball you ontop of that. Maybe 18k flat.

Current Black Book, used by many nissan dealers.
Loan shows $22365, wholesale shows clean at $23200 average at $21300, retail clean at $26725 average at $24450. Nav only adds $500 on used Z's, also shows add $400 on AT-Enthusiast, touring.
That's from the August 05 Black book.

In a similar situation, Touring 6sp, everything except nav. 25,500kms

I talked to a friend that works at a dealership and he said $29,700CDN is black book for it. Maybe you can use that for reference.

Gotta find me one of those dealers!!

Hell, at those prices, I'd get more selling it back to a dealer using that book than I paid for it (from a dealer) 6 months ago!

So, it's not a quick sale now it's a delayed sale, .

That's right. And I'm sure delaying the sale might not help with the resale values as well.

It's best to unload the car very soon, because once the dealers start unloading new cars off the lots at year's end, the used prices take a huge hit. In addition to that, after the dealer's are done unloading, you've just reach January 2006. Once it turns January 1, 2006, your car is now considered 1 year older. Again, your used car value gets slapped upside down just by a 1 day difference.
