It was $900 below invoice, so please bargain before you buy. This was an internet price, all the negotiation was done by email, no words spoken on the phone. Just went in and picked up the Z. It had 17 miles on it.

I mean $4K, thats a lot.

I was joking, someone really did pay the $10K over MSRP.

Thanks for all the replies, I just got a Touring 350Z 6MT in Daytona Blue for $250 below invoice, with Sirius, Side Airbags, the mats, etc... It was worth it to me, cuz I got exactly the options I wanted with the color I wanted. If anyone is in the Seattle/Bellevue area, DEFINITELY go to Bellevue Nissan (on NE 8th in Bellevue) and ask for James and tell em Dan with the Daytona Blue 350Z referred ya (PM me first I'll give ya a few more details). He's definitely a cool dude and doesn't mind if you drive spiritedly on your test drive...
Oh yes, also the invoice I saw was EXACTLY like the Kelley Blue Book prices quoted. And as stopgo says, make sure you have the figures in front with you when you start dealing.
On to modding! Hey, I did my first two mods today, took out the Security stickers on the windows.

Bay Area, California about one month ago
I purchased a 2005 ZR GT manual with all options except Nav.(I thought Nav in a ragtop would be too appealing to thieves)
Price before tax was $36,500 (MSRP 40,310) (Invoice 37,253) (TMV from edmunds is about 39k)
out the door with taxes, lic, and a 5 year / 100k extended warranty was 41k (taxes are a bit high in Contra Costa County)
The best advice I can give is to use sites like edmunds.com, vehix.com, and Consumerreports.com to get your information. Then create an internet mail address to use just for purchasing the car. Then contact as many internet managers that you can through the same type of websites and have them try to beat each other. I had three dealerships fighting for my business, on the same car (that was on a third party's lot), one hour before I visited the "winning" dealership to buy it.
Unfortunately, at the time I was buying the car I got, it was the only one available from central California (Fresno) all the way to northern California (Reno area). This really limited my bargaining position and had to settle for about 1.5k below invoice (including the destination charge I refused to pay and the extended warranty).
In comparison, when I walked into a couple of dealerships, I got prices as high as 45k for a 2005 auto touring roadster. The difference can be attributed to the fact that internet sales managers are NOT paid the same way as the sales people on the floor (which get a high commision on each sale).

I paid 29,700 for my 04 enthusiast w/ aero, mud flaps, cargo net, all that good stuff. I see all these people that got their Z's for so cheap, but then again I'm sure that the market has calmed down in the past 1.5 years. I guess I'm just glad I didn't pay over MSRP, this was in the the los angeles market, which was pretty hot for the Z.
Anyone who has a 03-04 Z get their car under MSRP out there?

Market and time of year does have a lot to do with it. Some Dealers Florida's West Coast, for example, charge $1500 over MSRP -- no negotiating. Period. Done. If you don't buy it, someone else will -- Thanks for coming in. I figure that if in LA and South/Central Florida you can get Invoice, you're doing well. If you can get below invoice, you're doing great.
I've noticed that a few folks will go Invoice only to charge you $595+ Dealer Fee and $580 Destination Charge. etc. Depending on how much dealer holdback is left in the car, some of that is negotiable, but many times they'll be hard about it.

they show you an "invoice", lmao. All it is, is a printed page of what they want you to think is the invoice on the car. When i bought my Z i was told i am getting it for less than what the dealer paid for it. Yea right, like they would really sell me a car at a loss of profit. lmoa
