Default Anyone Buy a Z lately? (Past week or so?)

When I went to the dealer yesterday, they said they were having "employee pricing" and would even show me the invoice, even though there was some $3k markup on the Z's for the local market being so hot (forgot the right terminology right now) on the sticker prices on each Z I saw on the lot. My salesman pointed to the price BEFORE $3k markup and said he could do better than that price.

So has anyone gotten the so-called "employee pricing", and if so, was it just invoice price (like you find on Edmunds or KBB)? And has anyone financed a Z lately? I heard the good 1.9% finance rates ended as of last month?

This is where you go to check on financing deals:

http://www.nissanusa.com/buying/Spec...,53010,00.html

There are currently none for the Z. As for the "employee pricing" that must be a local dealership gimic because it is not a National Nissan program. Here is Nissan's current program:

Got our 2005 Touring roadster last Saturday here in Utah, sticker 38770.00 actual price paid after employee pricing 36970.00 so it looks as though we got 1800.00 off sticker, not a whole lot but everything helped.

I got the same exact price on my Z in June in CA. Sticker price was well over 30k!!! Employee pricing will never been good ol' negotiation skills.

Bobmanfoo,

What dealership did you buy from in Houston if you don't mind me asking? I'm in Houston as well and I plan on purchasing in the next month or two. I qualify for VPP pricing, but you got an even better deal than that. Congrats!

When I bought my Red ZR, they took off $4K off MSRP. But they did tack on a $9995 ADM. I think I got off pretty good and all, I mean $4K, thats a lot.

I was joking, someone really did pay the $10K over MSRP.

LOL, good tips and info. Thanks! I can hardly find any 6MT's without pricy options around here... We'll see what happens!

I bought mine in late June, SS Enthusiast '05 for $27,500 before tax
includes: aero package(front and rear spoilers), splash guards, floor mat, cargo net, trunk mat, kick plates and side airbags.

It was $900 below invoice, so please bargain before you buy. This was an internet price, all the negotiation was done by email, no words spoken on the phone. Just went in and picked up the Z. It had 17 miles on it.

Bought an '05 Grand Touring Roadster on July 7th. Sticker was over $42k; paid a hair over $37k

I bought a pricing info sheet for the Z family via FightingChance.com. I still have the info in .pdf. PM me if you'd like a peek.

here's the gist of it from what i heard from my friend that knows a guy that works at nissan. Pretty much the stick price for example on a enthusiast trim is like 29-30 and invoice is ~27. You can pretty much get it for ~27 before tax and stuff. If you can't go to another dealer. If you know someone at the dealer or is very good at bargaining you can get it for like 25-26 before taxes and stuff.

I bought a 35th Ann Model at Advantage Nissan in Bremerton in May. It has nav, side air bags and the whole deal. Chuck Capps gave me a great deal, well below MSRP and close to dealer invoice. I'm talking like 4 grand off the Msrp. These guys are really great and want to sell cars. I came all the way from the SF Bayarea (Ca.) to buy from them and will go back the next time I'm looking for any Nissan product. His number is 360-373-6300. You can't do any better!!

Hey stopgo, you did pretty good.

I got a '05 Grand Touring Roadster the end of April. Sticker was $44k, and I paid $38k. My bargaining point was that I knew of another dealership with the exact car. Gave the dealer the option of dealing on the $ or we're walking. (End of month is always the best time to buy a car.)

Thanks, man. I had a helluva time with most of the local dealers. A car identical to the car I bought was also on the lot of a dealer who absolutely refused to negotiate. IIRC, he offered something like $400 below sticker... even after I showed him the quote from the dealership I ended up buying from.

Fortunately, I found a dealer who was selling every Z in stock at $500 below invoice. It turned out that after all the numbers were crunched the GT roadster was just a few hundred dollars more than the touring version so I jumped on it.

Incidentally, for the OP, your best deal might come through the dealership's fleet sales manager. From what I learned, it seems that those are the guys with the authority to issue deep discounts as they're charged with moving massive amounts of inventory.

Make sure to ask to see the factory invoice. It should have the factory's address and the dealership's address on it. Often a dealer will show you the dealer invoice as they are not required to show you the actual invoice from the factory.

And check out www.carbuyingtips.com. They have a lot of good info and a downloadable excel spreadsheet that you can use to crunch some numbers.
