how much tax?
How much is tax added from your states?
I'm looking to purchase 350z in the states and drive it up to vancouver, canada... Do I have to pay state tax even if it is bought to be used solely outside US?

Tax in Washington state is between 7-8.6 depending on what county you go to, but if you drive a little further down to oregon they have no sales tax. Iether way you might have to pay some sort of tax/tariff to Canada

I don't know how it works in Canada, but when I was stationed overseas I purchased a vehicle to take back to the US when my tour was complete. I was told I would avoid taxes etc, but that is not true. As soon as you title it for the first time in the US you have to provide a sales sheet/purchase order/receipt proving you paid sales tax. If you didn't they'll charge you for it. That happened to me in MD when I returned. I tried to fight it, but apparently they have lots of military they screw that way. The only way to get tax relief is to buy the car as soon as you are assigned overseas, let it depreciate for the time you are there. When you return and title the car, it will be worth less and they will make you pay less tax. Canada probably works similarly.
Some states also have reciprocation. What I mean by this is if one state imposes a lower tax and you purchase the car there, but try to title it in a state that charges a higher tax, then your state will charge you the excess. That happened to me when I bought a car in VA (3% sales tax), and registered it in MD (5%). I had to pay MD the extra 2% at the DMV.

I heard about oregon having no sales tax.. so if I buy 350z in oregon and drive it to canada and register in vancouver, I only pay tax from canadian government right?
By the way.. tax i'll have to pay upon registering 350z in vancouver would be. around 20%.... 14% if i buy locally.. still MUCH cheaper to get it from states... as.. performance 05 model in canada(slightly different than US performance model) would cost me $43500 US after tax whereas if I bought it from states without paying state tax but Canadian tariff would be.. $37000 after tariff... only drawback is not able to get warranty...

If you buy in the US and bring it into Canada, you have to get the car up to Canadian safety standards (around a grand) and pay GST on the value of the car (8% * ~ $42,000 Canadian = $3,360+)
Keep that in mind before bringing an American car into Canada, most of the time it doesnt pay.
