First, does paying cash help at all when dealing with a purchase.? I realize there may be some financing deals and I could just pay it off when the first payment is due but still, I'm curious if writing out that check for the car and handing it to the dealer makes any difference..?

Second, I was thinking about buying an 06 Enthusiast but now that I've scanned some of the dealerships inventories around me, I see a few 05 MT Tourings for 31-32k.......
I'm wondering if I offered 29k,"cash," out the door for an 05 Touring, what type of resistance I'd meet with......?
Lemme know what you guys think....
I live between San Diego and Riverside and Mossy Nissan seems to have an abundance of 05's in various San Diego Cities....

Check it out.. http://www.mossynissan.com/list.asp?model=350z

I think you're better off with going the financing route & paying off early....they love that cuz that's where they make alot of profit back.

No break for paying cash; dealer makes money on finance. Make sure there are no prepayment penalties if you take a loan.

$29,000 out the door (with tax & license) is not likely for 05 Touring; Yes, for Enthusiast.

Getting an 05 will save $$$; no substabtive difference between 05 & 06.

No. In fact dealers may prefer financing to cash. There’s additional profit in financing. If you're going to pay cash, negotiate the price of the car first.

Can you give me a specific example?

I think $30k ('05 touring) incl. t/t/l is very do-able.

(That's what I'm intending to get this week after trying 4-7 dealerships)
