He was obviously not meaning any offense, rather the opposite.
Forums and chatrooms are places you quickly offer opinions in your posts and replies. This brings on the use of shortened words and acronyms, just as you said.

Its hilarious to me the number of bored forum dwellers that scan through posts in hopes to correct the gramatical and "political" errors made. I'm not saying thats exactly what you're doing, but you're defintely encouraging it.

An overall rule is to try reading posts for the content and try to keep your replies related to the topic. Deliberate offensive comments will be taken care of by moderators.
