Default how long did it take?

Just put a down payment on a Z. Was wondering how long did it take for the dealer to tell you the ETA of the car since it is being made overseas? thanks for any help.

It is usually a 90 day time period, before it is states side.

Mine took almost exactly 3 months to arrive. There are a few factors you have to contend with that ultimately affect when you'll get your car.

First, most dealers order only once a month, usually during the first week. If you go into the dealer and order on the 15'th, it may not actually get placed until the 1st of the following month. That can add two to three weeks to the time.

Second, before they order the car from the factory, they're going to look for one at another dealership and see if they can trade for it. That could get you the car within two weeks.

Third, they could place the order, and the next shipment from Japan could have a car on it that matches your request. If it's not already destined for another dealership, it could be rerouted to your dealer to fill the request. That could get it to you in less than a month.

If it truly comes from the factory, then expect it will take 3 months from the time the dealer actually places the order.

I heard the same stuff that DavesZ#3 said. My '06 took three months.

The one thing I'd add is my dealer told me that when they order at the start of each month, they have a limited allotment of orders they can place. Nissan apparently sets limits on how many vehicles each dealer can order each month.

I would assume larger dealers get large allotments for ordering.

It took 16 weeks to get my 05 last year. Basically from what I remember they did not know it was actually coming until 1 week before that. Up until it goes through production I think they are just estimating. Maybe it is better now. Hope you are patient! It is hard to wait for something like a Z

That is the worst part about ordering a car from the factory, waiting to get it...

My friend, the next 6 to 8 weeks will be the longest of your life...

Within a week or two of it's arrival at the dealership, you'll be able to spot it online in the dealers inventory. Once it's off the boat and onto a train or truck, it's supposed to show up in their inventory. Depending on where you're located, that's a week or two away.

i've been tempted to order a Z. Here in cali a 2006 PPW Enth/6speed is the rarest z, not one in all of So Cal nissan dealers. I've been looking for a month and the i think the nearest one is arizona. I dont think i want to drive all the way out there for a car. Gah so tempted to order but dont want to wait.
