06 Grand Touring Roadster, auto, nav, burnt orange vent leather seats, mats, splash guards, convenience net, trunk mat. MSRP $43,640 .. paid $41,300

Maybe not the greatest price but it was 100% exactly as I wanted with options and color.

Whether you paid $41,300 or $44,300 makes little difference. Its the car that you want. And it is HOT!

Perma plate? You got ripped. You can read up on these B.S. dealer coatings on some websites like Edmunds.com.

Well I didn't pay anything for the Perma Plate, nor did that have any effect on my decision to purchase the car. I paid an extra $2300 for the extended warranty ($1300) and LoJack ($1000), which is not a bad deal.

An Example:

2006 Nissan 350Z Touring Coupe
  • Aerodynamics Package
  • Floor Mats
  • Cargo Convenience Package
  • Aluminum Kick Plate
  • Trunk Mats

MSRP: $34,235
INVOICE: $31,551
REBATE: NONE AVAILABLE on 2006

Without to much effort this vehicle can be purchased for Invoice. However, the dealer has the ability to go into what is called HOLDBACK money set aside for the dealer's interest fees incurred while maintaining this vehicle on the lot until sold. Some dealers will negotiate this with a consumer, some will not.

This unit has $890 (~2.5% of MSRP on Nissan's) worth of HOLDBACK. Therefore the dealer would probably move another couple hundred dollars if you were going to finance with them or they simply were in a good mood.

Just have dealers compete for the price. And actually, dealers make more money on ordered cars since it never sits on the lot and I think Nissan has greater incentives(for dealer) for ordered car.
