Question Buying Z at an Auction?

Does anyone know of any good places in Florida to do this? If so, how do auctions work along with the quality generally of the vechicles? Also, what are the chances of finding an 06 there? Are they mainly older cars?

Most auto auctions are for dealers (or have a resellers license) only. General public are not allowed to participate. You should also understand when you buy a vehicle at a auction, you are buying the vehicle as-is, with no guarantees. Generally the previewing of the vehicles to be auctioned is held the day before the auction is to take place. This will be you're only chance to inspect the vehicle before you decide to bid or not. The quality of the vehicles varies greatley. From bank repos to dealer over stock.

My dealer told me that Z's at auction are generally ones that did not pass their 100 somethin point inspection and were thus sent to auction because it would be too much for the dealer to fix. You have to be careful of Manufacture buybacks also, I wouldn't consider a Z at auction without seeing a CarFax report.

Auctions are tricky things. First off, you will not see an 06 for a while. Secondly, as was said, most auctions are dealer only. If you can find a Z at the auction, you would need a dealer to buy it for you.
Third, auctions require a full payment, on the day of sale. No financing.
Fourth, it is an as-is sale. No warranties, other than the factory ones.

I go to auctions all the time. Z's are pretty rare.

Good luck, if this is the route you take.

My friend has a dealer's license and there are a few auctions in the florida area. Notably, there is a huge one in orlando. Z's are a dime a dozen on auction and by no means rare. The site which dealer's use is www.manheim.com. It gives you all the auctions nationwide. But like others have said, it is a hit or miss situation. Extremely good deal or stuck with a problematic vehicle.

Yes, but isn't the Nissan warranty transferable? So wouldn't that eliminate the majority of potential problems (presupposing the warranty hadn't expired)?

Yep, the warranty is transferrable. Vehicle also goes through an inspection prior to auction. Detailed condition of vehicle is listed for each with also a market report. I was just looking at it this morning.
