Price Increase Soon?
The dollar has dropped over 14% versus the yen in the last 4 months. If the dollar doesn't rebound soon, Nissan will probably be forced to raise prices across the board.

Price Increase
It is a good thing we have our contracts in hand, but mine says the dealer will sell the car to me for MSRP, plus options and freight costs. My salesman told me up front, the MSRP could change, not by much($1-200), so with the yen going down, Nissan could change the bottom line slightly.
I am not concerned, this happens in business all the time. If it happens, so what, the car is still a bargain for us.

Yeah, my buyers sheet states that the manufacturer can change the price, but not the dealer. So if Nissan does have to increase the price, we'll have to pay it. Hope it's not too much of a change

I don't know bout y'all, but my contract is for a fixed price ... $31,327.32 (fricken DC sales taxes). If the price increases one penny to $31,327.33 or more, I will SQUEAL LIKE A STUCK PIG.

IMHO, I think one of the things Nissan is most proud of in the new Z is the price relative to the performance level. Since they keep stressing the "base" price, although not too many people order base... I don't think they will change the price at all.

Robbyn- You may want to look a little closer at your buyer sheet. Mine too lists the MSRP as the final sale price. However, in fine print at the bottom, it says the manufacturer reserves the right to change the MSRP between the date of the preorder and date of delivery. It goes on to say that if that happens, the buyer has the right to back out of the deal and get refunded the deposit. I'm guessing this is pretty standard, but again, I can't imagine it would change much. Don't worry bout it.

My 350Z Sale price
My dealer used a "350Z Pre-Release Order Form & Buyers Order Worksheet. It contains the Model Base Price of $31,589 for a Touring Edition with Auto Tran and then lists the options,(all options except Nav and Aero Package), bringing the total to $34,723.50 plus a $1000 refundable deposit. This price includes Misc fees ($50), Tax, title, CA license ($2649.50) and a $540.00 Destination and handling fee. At the bottom of the form there is a box for which the Dealer and the Customer signs. Within and at the top of the box is the small print:
"The Buyer and Seller as signed below, have agreed to the above pre-release 350Z order, options and pricing.
"The Buyer and Seller as signed below, have agreed to the above pre-release 350Z order, options and pricing.

I think Nissan would be shooting themselves in the foot if they were to raise prices (although we've all seen stranger things). If anything they would scale back on the production figures. But what do I know... the consumer always seems to get stuck in the end!!!
