Default Touring and Track models?

Sold my S2000 a few months ago. I am now itching to get another sports car. I've been researching the Z's for a little bit. But I need some info.

First, this is for a second/weekend car (I have a 4Runner as a daily driver). I plan to track the car a few times a year. I am, by no means, a track rat. But they just built a track right by me, so I feel almost required to visit a few times a year.

Ok, this will be my second/track car, but I WILL drive it a lot during the summer time to work/social events. I almost drove my S2000 daily, because...well, you guys all know why. There are some comfort features that I like in the Touring model--heated seats, MP3 stereo (I've got an MP3 deck right now, and I don't think I can live without it), etc. But the Track model does have great wheels, brakes, etc.

My questions are:

1) Is it worth the extra $$ for the Track model, if I am going to be going to the track only a few times a year?

2) Those that have the Touring/Track model, and are in the same "driving condition" category, do you sometimes wish you had bought the other model?

Right now, I am leaning towards the Touring. If I were going to get an all-out track car, I'd be looking at another S2000 or an Elise/Exige. The Touring seems to be a good mix between the two (track and daily). Oh, and I have always kept my cars stock, and plan to do the same with my next car. I'd rather put the money towards track time and gas.

Thanks for any inputs.

i wish i had the brembos....but i have a touring....if anything i would have gotten the grand touring only cuz its so much more luxurious inside...I LOVE me leaher heated seats....the seats just looks so much more rich and bold inside with the leather....just my opinion.

plus if you want an all out track car...like u said...u should just have stuck with the s2000.

I have a track version, but then again I am a track dog There has been discussions on this forum regarding the extra cost of the track and what you get for your money compared to what you can buy if you get a base model and buy everything your self. The result was about the same although the track rims and brakes are still not ideal for a real track car. Basically by going with a base model you can get better aftermarket track rated hardware.

The Track model has:
Brembo brakes
Viscous LSD
Traction Controll systems
Light weight Volk rims

It does not have:
Power seats
Bose stereo
Leather seats

Because the car has alot of understeer Track model or not I would still reccomend buying some coilovers, and sways to really have a good time on the track. The Brembo brakes are superb and I have never had any problems with them what so ever. I have friends that have the standard brakes, but they only complain towards teh end of very long track days so depending on what track events you are going to the stock brakes might do you just fine.

On a side note the Z is faster then an S2000 on a larger track so I am not sure that I would agree that it is a better track car. Maybe if you only want to do auto x events, but even then..... The Z is just a better package.
